I am looking for a thin, 3" or/and under, drop point folder. I am being very picky here when it comes to dimensions. For example, if the BM Sequel 707 came in a drop rather than a clip point, my search would be over. The BM mini-grip is too chunky. The CRKT Drifter would be fine in a better quality knife. This is going to be used as a hiking & gardening knife so knives like the Mnandi are a little too nice and delicate. Partially serrated is fine. And, I don't care for Spyderco's. Sorry. Any thoughts?

Thin blade or thin handle? OR both? The Buck Vantage comes in two sizes, 2.625", and 3.25"; and is relatively slim. Probably the slimmest knife I own.

How about an Al Mar Ultralight?

I just ordered a Hawk, I am planning on using it as a gentleman's knife. No reason it can't do double duty though. I should explain a little bit more, I am really looking for a better version of the CRKT Drifter which I use as my week-end chores, utility, gardening, etc., knife.

Sounds like you should be looking at traditionals! The blade on the Case slimline trapper is right around 3", IIRC.

Case has plenty of trim knives with 3" blades. Some of them have locks, if that's something you need.

Your search should be over soon. The 707 is a modified clip point, but after looking at it closely, it is has far more drop point characteristsics than clip point. There could ahve been someone "mixing it up" when they wrote the description, not the first time something like that has happened. The Cold Steel Recon 1 comes in a clip point (old school Bowie style), looking at the 707, I cannot really see anything aside from the spine swedge that would classify it as a clip point at all really. What am I missing here?

Maybe, I recently started a traditional knife search as well. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=788589. Your post made me think of another requirement: a pocket clip so that I can easily grab the knife when working or wearing gloves.

Take a look on A. G. Russell's site. He sells, under his label, a 3" (handle) lockback with a VG-10 drop-point blade. It's shaped like a small canoe pattern and has a titanium handle that is as thin as they come. No hard or rough edges so it is a perfect pocket carry knife. Great little knife with great materials and sharp as a razor right out of the box. Best warranty in the business as well.

+1 on A.G. Russell I've got a one handed opening lockback with a 3" blade, total thickness is 1/4". I've had it for 25 years.

Böker Plus Trance might be what you're looking for. Cheap as well.

Spot on. There's even a dedicated Drop Point version of the Trance, that has kind of a more rounded blade shape.
It's the thinnest knife of that size that I know of.
