Thank you for your kind wishes, I can't wait for the regular winter weather of grey skies and drizzle to resume.
I know other parts of the world have more snow and colder temperatures even than this on a regular basis but it is outside the experience of anyone under 50 here!

My mother has a friend in England who tells her that they have deep snow in places where they rarely see much of it. Even more interesting when you consider that, right now, I'm sitting inside looking out where it is 40C+

Pity we can't do a bit of a temperature swap. :)

I'd post you some snow but the rates have gone up!

I lived in London for years and apart from a few days of snow here and there the winters were very mild. What on earth is going on...The place looks like Greenland:eek:
I thought the planet was getting warmer??
Please stay safe and be extra careful on the roads.....

It was a nice warm 28c here today......not a cloud in the sky and lot's of scantily clad women everywhere.....:p
Maybe we should start a BF Southern Hemisphere winter retreat:D

It's still snowing now!

The last time a was back home visiting the folks (winter of 07-08) there was some reasonable snow fall.

Enough to build this when we got fed up with snowboarding in the Pentland hills :p:thumbup:

There has been a lot more this year than there has been for a very long time though. I just wish I was back home to enjoy it all :grumpy:

I just love winter :D
It's not as bad here as in England, but we (the entire country) weren't prepared properly so we're out of salt for the rest of the week. Slippery...

Btw Alfaholic, what's the katana in your signature? Just wondering...

Good grief it just seems never ending! Sky said that they were diverting salt from export for the roads.....Has it helped?

Cool igloo :)

Scotland seems far better prepared than England for the weather......It's been awhile since you were home Haze......you must miss it.

The Govt. has asked the local authorities to cut salt application by 50%, in order to ensure supplies last.
Aparently surface stocks at the mines are almost exausted so they can only supply at the rate they extract.

The weather in England at the moment is more like a typical Scottish winter. It's rare for English people to own snow chains or winter tyres, it seems pointless usually for the odd day or two of snow per year.

I understand that if you apply Marmite to the tyres they grip the road somewhat better......

All joking aside, the Scots produce the best antifreeze in the world for human consumption.

Stay warm & stay safe.

You would be surprised at how unprepared Scotland can be, they tend to just grit the bus routs and leave the rest of the roads with that 1-2 inch layer of ice that builds up.

It has been a while since I was home but I'm hoping to get back in a few months. I'm even thinking of just selling up here and moving on altogether  I'll need to see what the other half makes of that though :foot:

Yes, you are indeed correct, it's particularly good from the Islands found off the west coast of Scotland.
They have some very special facilities that produce it there. :D:thumbup:

I wondered why there's no marmite in the supermarkets :(

Actually, the temperature has been significantly above freezing today and the snow is melting. Grey skies and rain is forecast for the next couple of days :) I'd better apply some of that Scottish antifreeze though, just to be on the safe side. :D

It's been looking tough over there this month.
Here in Scandiland, it was -29c last week which even for here is unpleasant:eek:

I just wonder what temp those British houses must be like inside:D all single windows and hardly any insulation.... remember living in Snowdonia and you slept in your clothes (yes, indoors not some mountainside bivouac!)and went out in the car to get bloody warm, winter? Aaaaarrgghhh!

Andrew and Haze, drop by to visit in Israel and I'll give you a dram from the collection. It's warm, here. (The weather...the malt is a cool room temp, and you can have it neat or with a few drops of spring water.)

Thanks for the offer, I'll remember that! :)

Wierd, yesterday was cold with lowering grey skies, a strong westerly breeze, horizontal driving rain and floodwater everywhere from the melting snow.
Today is beautiful blue skies and sunshine (8c) and it is pleasantly warm in the (double glazed) house even with no heating on!

You can still see lumps of snow from where it was piled up.

I guess a thread about the UK is as good a place as any to say Hi.

Hi. :)

I live up on the north west coast of England - one of the very few places that didn't get covered in snow - we had extreme floods a couple of months back instead.

If anyone here is from the FAL Files, then I'm sure you'll know who I am.;)

Greetings and welcome to madness that is BF.......:)
You might like to start your own introduction thread here in community.Tell us all a little about your interest in knives etc .....I am sure you will get many replies.

Kind regards
Steven
