Things are getting sticky

How do they know the 200 dead were Maoists? If they were, then who killed them; could China be covering it's tracks?

As I said, not the clearest article I've ever read - apparently they got local information, recent cremations, etc. This evidently wasn't a battlefield body count. There was only one other article in the Nepal News links, which attributed the beheadings claim to a departing tourist who was interviewed at the airport, on his way home.

Hehehehehe,

If Tisimi did it we will know soon enough. He will be bragging about his 200 new khukuries.

What the news says and what is in Nepal is often not the same.

The same article is up this AM, but has been edited - seems this was after an RNA push into the area. Nepal News is definitely pro-gov't., but cross checks against other papers doesn't seem to vary much. Several of the "left leaning" sites just aren't there lately, but their kin in India are claiming the Maoists are pushing back the RNA. Others are reporting that entire Maoist cells to the east of Kat are turning themselves in, with their weapons. When it is finally over, or at least settled down, maybe we can get a nose count. Hopefully, all ours will be there to count.

Salleri is where Yangdu went to High School. We got news of the attack via the Sherpa network before it appeared anywhere. Somebody at Phaplu was able to call out via phone, the news got to the Sherpas in NYC, and then to us.

We hear the haul from the bank robbery was worth about a million bucks cash and valuables combined. Not a bad nights' work for the Maoists.

Also heard there were more people killed than is being reported.
