Things I do while wasting time.

leave it for a natural patina, remember you can always paint the blade black again if stealth is needed.

it is all kinds of fun doing any little job with knives, just always pay attention. it may seem silly, but even cleaning fingernails has a little bit of joy to it, when you use a knife. but its way better when you have a specific tack, like you do.

...... if you like knives.

You forgot to scrape the paint off the pommel, hilt and between the stacked leather sections. :)

Yeah, i always scrape the coating off near the edge so it doesn't gunk up my sharpening stones. Could be fun to scrape the whole thing...

It took me 3 hours to do this. I might do the finger guard but the pommel and between the leather may just not get done. Thanks for the sugestion though. Let me see how yours turns out then I might do the same : )

I'm a former Marine and would never deface a KA-BAR USMC fighting knife! :thumbdn:

The Ka-Bar is a premium knife IMO. Underrated by most all but military people. Its good enough for the government work and has been for years.

But it does have some draw backs that make it less than ideal.

the handle, while positively grip worthy, it isn't the most ergonomic, a little reshaping is optimum. the guard isn't really a guard for anything other than demarcation of sorts, get a real guard on it. Other than that the length, grind, steel, and temper have proven themselves probably more than any other knife in history, simply based on the numbers distributed, its like telling McDonalds how to make hamburgers, I think they pretty much know exactly how to sell a burger, but there are some things not so great about them.

awesome bro. you never see anyone mod a kabar. but that came out pretty freakin sweet, and now its one of a kind.

+ 1 on the fact that kabars are under rated. great warranty, great product..
and kabar gets major props on picking up the becker line. ethan is a great addition to their team.

Yeah i love my ww2 Ka-Bar. Everytime I pick it up I can't help but grin and admire the men and women who fight and have fought for our country!
