Things of interest in CO?

I'm going to CO to ski in march. I have been plenty of times, and know the good ski spots. My question to the beckerheads is, what do you guys suggest in the breckenridge area. And are there any beckerheads in CO? I am already planning on stopping at the spyderco factory, but let me know if there are any must see gear shops or other places I gota check out.

Well I know BMauser lives up there, and there are a few others that live in CO, but most of them are closer to Denver from what I can tell.

If you can, go check out Red Rocks, its pretty nice. And while you're there check out willies wings (little hole in the wall on the right hand side of the road into Morrison right before Red Rocks), it isn't fancy, but the food is pretty dang good. I've been there plenty of times and have never been disappointed :).

Also, Breckenridge isn't all that far from a couple of cool places. Silverthorn has all kinds of shopping if you're into that kind of thing and is just up the road. And while I've never really been to Central City/Blackhawk (only drove through on my way to some wheeling) it looks like a pretty cool place to check out.

Also, there is an indoor skydiving place in Denver.

Sorry, just rambling now :p.

I'm in Colorado. Nowhere near Breckenridge, unfortunately, but if you do find yourself in the Parker area, feel free to stop on by. There used to be a reasonably good ice cream shop in Idaho Springs also, as I recall, and if you go back via the Boulder route, there's a gourmet pizza place there that's pretty good.

I can't really think of all that much stuff in that area that's of interest to a knife guy though, aside from the Spyderco Factory, and pricing there is a good bit higher than online. Expect to pay around 120-150 for a Para 2, for instance. The advantage is that you get to take it home immediately after handling it, and sometimes they have sprint runs on sale there.

Nope, we are driving. My roommates uncle is flying in though, and we are timing it so we can pick him up so he doesn't have to take the shuttle.

someone better start posting pictures of Beckers in the field :>

There is a lot of stuff to do in Colorado if you have the time and desire to drive all over. You all ready have the Spyderco thing figured out which is probably the only knife thing to do. Around Breckenridge? Other than Skiing? Bars and restaurants mostly..there is the Breckenridge brewery... there are places to rent snowmobiles or go on snowmobile guided tours way up in to the mountain, I always though that sounded fun. you can go on dog sled rides too.

We have lots of touristy crap like the Denver mint, museums, the zoo, a giant tropical aquariaum. There's a huge REI store with a climbing wall. Ever been to a Bass Pro Shop? I can spend all day there.

Red rocks is beautiful. We have casinos, steak house titty bars, brewery's,ghost towns, hot springs, cave of the winds, garden of the gods and all kinds of things that may or may not be your thing.

I think that pretty well sums it up!!

And to the OP: The Spyderco outlet is pretty cool, but don't expect outlet prices.

Yeah, I made it to the benchmade HQ(my dad lives 30 min away) and theirs were all at full MSRP. I am more interested in handling all the knives I don't get to see round these parts. We will be skiing most of the trip, but nights are usually free to roam :)

Well GWAR is playing that month out there. (can't remember the date) then again if you have a date, Chris Issac is also that month (I think). If you want to go clubbing, I would suggest The Church, 1082 (club vinyl), Shelter, The Milk Bar, The Wave. Those usually have really good night with all sorts of different DJs and rooms. There is also a knife shop out in Littleton I do believe as well.

Also there is Casa Bonita! (yeah it was mentioned on South Park, and yeah it's actually a real place)

I am an amature gold prospector and there is a lot of gold to found up there, you should pick up a set of gold pans and check out some of the creeks around area you going to you may get lucky and find some color!
