A couple months ago, one of my grand sons went on a camping trip with us. He is about 10. I gave him a little Vic Classic. This last week I gave one to my older grandson when he went camping with us, I gave him a Vic Tinker. Anyway when i took him home, the first grandson came running out and pulled the little classic out of his pocket and said " Thank you again, this is the handiest things I have ever had and the other boys at the camp that I was at just loved it".

He told me that he would never be without a SAK for the rest of his life. Nothing like starting a kid out right.;) Warmed my old heart.:D

SAK`s are ,in my opinion, the best first knife for a child. When my daughters were young I managed to find them each a Vic Soldier with their year of birth year markings. Since then I`ve done the same for my three grandkids, although my grandaughters are too young for their`s yet. My grandson "helped" me make a Nessmuk for him about 2 years ago. My biggest problem is that I have a new grandaughter due in November, and Victorinox has discontinued the old Soldier model!

The Wenger Soldier is a pretty good little knife too. If you can't find the Vic.

Maybe Stomper can stamp the Blades.:D I love the Soldier too. The first Grandson wants a bigger one now. I should have known that you gotta give kids all the same thing or they fight.:D
