Just got my blade and guard back, now I am going to try to make "silk" micarta using info in previous threads. Question is, how do I thin the epoxy to make sure the silk is saturated?
Thanks

Depends on the epoxy you are using, some are thinnner than others. I have used some for fiber glass lay up that was already very runny. I have used Acetone to thin epoxy, only thing is that it THINS it, not just lowers the viscosity, when it sets there is less glue than the volume would lead you to think.

Good luck

When I need epoxy thinned, I warm my equipment (epoxy dispensers, knife blade, handle material, mixing bowl, etc...). Eighty degrees F is about right. Not too hot and the warmth does not bake the epoxy.

Remember, warming the epoxy will shorten the set time, so work quickly.

I would not recommend acetone to thin the epoxy, actually, I use acetone to clean up after I epoxy.

Hope this helps...
