I am so happy with this knife that I have tried to analyze why it is so pleasant that I no longer lust for other knives.
I think it is in not only the edge holding properties of VG-10 but also in the STIFFNESS of the blade.
It does not WOBBLE. No springiness.
It is a FOLDING KNIFE.....not just a knife that folds.
Open, it is like a fixed blade (which is how knives started) and the rigidity makes using AND sharpening so EASY.
Without any "spring" or "give" in the lateral movement of the blade, it is REALLY easy to control. No chance of having to decide how much pressure is necessary to keep full control of the cut. It just goes where you point it and doesn't depend on any factor other than where you want the cut.
It's especially nice when cutting TOWARDS yourself. That rigid blade just follows the pressure line of the cut and doesn't slip.
