As a side note I had dulled up my kitchen mora alot over the past moth really puttin it through the motion so tonight I sat withit for about 2 minutes with one of those cheezy d-guard crock sharpeners and my leather belt...now it's shaving sharp, couldn't believe how easy it took an edge..

The first step is to admit that you have a problem, but I think I'll stay in denial for a while yet.:D I've found that one of the carbon steel Ericksson's that I use as a paring knife must be festidiously wiped dry or the little bugger will stain/rust in a heart beat.

I firmly believe that Moras and Opinels are two of the very best bargains in the cutlery field! And Ragweed Forge is a great souce of real "using" knives at good prices, too. Gopher it! :D

Oh, by the way, try out an Opinel "Garden Knife" which seems to be a new model, or newly available here. I got mine a month ago for $6.99 (+ S&H) I think it was from www.smokymountainknifeworks.com and I liked it so well I ordered myself a spare plus two more for gifts. While you are there at SMKW, check out that nice Victorinox "Solo" single blade Swiss Army Knife that's a little larger than the usual SAK models. Mine only cost $7.99 I think. Both of these knives have stainless blades, and that Opinel has a spear point blade in a slender, nicely styled handle that is quite unlike their standard models. It's their #8 size, too. SMKW's phone number is 1-800-251-9306.

After reading these threads about opinels, I'm going to have to pick up one..or two of them. Plus that means I have to order a copy of my favorite mora, plus a couple of other ones i've been meaning to try out. Plus some sharpening supplies.

Stupid sexy ragweed....

I have 150 ish blades I dont have my master list in front of me.

Rescue Riley This IS a support group, we just encourage embracing your addiction, The steel Monkey is your freind.:D

One warning though, When you buy a new Sebenza instead of buying you wife an aneversary present, you have ave gone too far!!! (unless thats what she wants)

I seem to remember warnig you of this addiction some time ago :p

Opinels are good blades, but they're not hard use knives. I carried a carbon #4 as a EDC for about a year, then a Schrade/Uncle Henry stockman. Now I carry a Swiss 'Fieldmaster' which replaced a 'Huntsman'.....Man, I can't list the knives I've own and/or used! But yes, Moras are fine blades. Cut the web between my left thumb and index finger with one thirty years past, brand new. Skinned many 'coons with it, but lost it somewhere. Yeah, guess I'm an addict too.

I would truly love to see some pics of your collection.

I've always been an Opinel fan. Good, honest, traditional product that does the job and is priced in everyone's reach. My local field sports dealer says, "Turn a Frenchman upside down and shake. At least one Opinel will fall out of his pockets." But take a look at Marjacq.

In the last 3 months I have bought a lot more than I ever thought I would.

Fixed Blades
Ka-bar short black
Ka-Bar KBD1
Western drop point Hunter (Camillus)
Kershaw Bear Hunter
Kershaw Antelope Hunter
Glock 78 Field Knife
CS Bushman
Folders
2 CRKT M16's
CRKT My Tighe
CRKT Carson neck Knife
Kershaw Storm
Kershaw Silver Spur
CRKT Hammond Cruiser
Gerber Trout & Bird
Gerber LST II

I use all these knives regularly, I have found them all to be value for what I paid for them.
The KBD1 was the most expensive knife at $40.00 US
