hi bladeforums. ive been thinking about some of the knives ive had and sold over the years ive collected knives and imkinda sad about some i wish i could have bought but didnt and didnt know if anyone else was on the same page today. ive been wanting a spyderco civillian for a while but i used to have a cold steel black talon and i wouldnt need one if i didnt trade it. and they dont make them anymore. i wish i would have bought a rukus too when i could have but benchmade discontinues knives more frequently than scrapyard. im also missing my beloved black sable.

Not yet but I probably will soon. I have a bunch of Sprint run/ LE Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw/ZT knives that I'm about to start selling off. They are all NIB and deserve the chance to be used. I just have enough users as it is and don't need 80 more that are fairly valuable. There are a few I will keep but just don't need them and being disabled, I could also use the money.

I don't really sell (yet) because I'm still starting my collection....but honestly the thing that hurts the worst is deals I missed ....three years ago when I was just getting into knives I saw damascus skylines for around $50 now they sell for around $120...a coulple of moths ago, I missed a ZT 560 for $150, it was NIB...last night I missed a kershaw breakout for $77 and a spyderco sage 3 for $90...if you'll excuse me I'm going to go sulk lol.

sigh at least im not alone. ive never had a duplicate of a knife, i guess i have been focusing more on adding new ones rather than preserving my favorites. but ive only been at this for a decade or so.

Regret? Yes a lot especially selling my para2s. I have to be way to generous to sell and never have sold anything with profit because of my location.

But I don't hate myself for it. They're only knives.

I haven't sold anything I regret--at least not yet. There are a couple knives that I do, however, regret not being able to pick up when they were available for reasonable prices.

Nah, that's just part of the hobby. Whatever motivated you to sell them was what it was at the time so I just let it go as it was meant to be. Its just a tool right? :D

I've sold some wonderful folders. I've had wonderful PM2's in the past. Those are long gone. It's a matter of money, or the lack thereof. Usually, I have to sell one or two in order to buy one. But, I'm happy. I've been having a great time.

A Jake Hoback Bowie. I had to get rid of it and I have regretted it ever since. It went through a couple of hands here on the forum but I don't know where it landed..... If it shows up again I will definitely snag it.

I have regrets selling quite a few actually. It is always to fund another nice knife though.

I had one of the older Socom Elites with a chisel ground D2 tanto blade. Had star key screws. I took the grip tape inlays out and put in orange ray skin. Traded it for a William Henry EDC. Big mistake. I'm not big on chisel grinds or tanto blades, but that knife just felt right. Some day I'll replace it.

I've sold sprints for 1/2 of what they eventually commanded. Does it bother me? Not really as my ratio seems to be about 8:1 on keepers and there are so many knives to try.

NO. I never sell, but once in a while I give one away. Its usually inexpensive and I can get 1000 that look just like it. It does make people happy.

I've sold some sweet knives that I really wish I hadn't. Needed the money at the time though so what do you do?

I don't regret selling or trading my knives but I do miss a few. They're relatively easy to rebuy so it's no biggy.

I hear ya and feel the pain my friend. I am a CRK knife nut. When I sit and think of the Sebenzas, Mnandi, One Piece Knives I sold or traded away, it makes me literally sick. If I sold them or traded them for another CRK, its not so bad. But at one point, I got bit by the Hinderer Bug and sold and traded several off to by the XM18's & 24's. I really like the Hinderer's, but personally, and I am not putting Hinderer down in any way, but I just think CRK is much better and for me, Hinderer will always be #2 behind CRK......Yes, I can go back and buy the same models, but as we all know, its just not the same.

Anything I've sold is because I didn't want/need it anymore or there was something that bothered me greatly. Top regrets would have to be:

1. Bm 710-2 in M390 - at 25* inclusive it chipped out like the dickens when I was cutting cardboard, and the distance between the cutting edge and my hand bothered me, could've dremeled the handle curvature closer to the pivot area but I didn't think about that at the time.

2. Buck Strider 880 - Really great beater and it's a strider shape that I'm willing to pay for, but that lock just wouldn't lock.
