Thinking about a Gryphon M10, in need of some advice

Howdy everyone,

I am looking for some advice related to an upcoming purchase of a new self defense fixed blade. I have carried various folding knives over the years but am taking a more serious approach to carrying a fixed blade and ramping up my self defense training (jujutsu).

I am just starting my serious blade research, and am largely unfamiliar with enthusiast-preferred manufacturers and models. The Gryphon M10 has captured my interest due to its size, grip, and various praise on the net.

I would greatly appreciate your opinions of this knife and its possible worthiness as a "meat and potatoes" self defense knife. Any other knife selection/technique books or sites you could refer me to would be of great help as well.

Lastly, can you clue me in to some reputable online retailers you all use for purchasing knives and related items?

If you are a serious jujutsu student you must have a sensei. What we think is less important than what your sensei thinks. Does he like this style of blade? Does it fit what he is teaching you? I'd start by asking him.
