I really want to try a Umnum... but I can't get this dang Large Micarta 21 out of my head.

The new holes in the washers, the pivot bushing, the looks! O man what should I do????

Umnum (don't really care for the looks, but am a BIG fan of Chris's work... So I'm sure I would love it)

Large Micarta 21 (LOVE everything, would change NOTHING about it... )

What would you do and why? (Btw I "need" another knife like I need a hole in the head, but you know how it's goes!) :D

So-lo-

From my own perspective, I would say go with the Umnum- The ONLY reason I say this is I know that you have had a micarta seb before- not much difference between the 21 and the one you had. The umnum is NEW for you- Might experience something beyond the ordinary!

This is only my perspective but it is how I tend to look at "aquisisitions".

Get the 21 ist, play with it for awhile. Then you will get an Umnumzaan.

So the washer holes have been added to the 21 as well? I just made a thread asking why this hadn't happened. If that is the case, then color me ignorant.

I thought they are now standard for the 21? Maybe not?

Bhyde:

You got the CE Micarta, I had a PE also at the time and love'ed it... But did sell/trade it for what ever reason. :grumpy: I am totaly with your way of thinking though. But this Large Micarta Sebbie is taunting me.

Like you know you want me! Just do it already... But my mind is saying "slow down there bud.. Try something different."

That's the heart of the problem, and I think the only answer is TKC's :D

It only makes sense! :D

Pulled the trigger on a Large double lug Micarta 21 today :D

Should be ready by the end of the month

:D

You'll love the Micarta Sebby. Mine is a large Classic with the serrated blade and it's awesome.

nice purchase. the micarta is something special. i don't know what it is.

make sure you post up what you think of the 21 versus the classic.

+1 for the Micarta. I love that knife. It is more comfortable (in my opinion) than the U...

Hey... I think I've seen that BG42 somewhere before :D

So she came, huh? Outstanding. Gotta love those Spyderco U/F stones for CRK's S30V. Coupl'a passes on mine and one or two on the strop and my Ironwood 21 was ready for surgery. How do you like that second thumb lug? Can you open her left-handed yet?

How's she handle? My small Desert Ironwood is a 21 and it is very smooth, but so are my micarta classics... and my small regulars... and my large regular... and my dog paws...

As for the Spyderco UF stone.... I would say with out a doubt it IS the very best piece of sharpening equipment I have ever bought.... And I have a sharpmaker, spyderco profile set, DMT dia sharps...edge pro apex...ect ;). I use it everyday!

Love the secong lug, not so much for opening left handed though. If you have ever seen my YouTube stuff, I open a lot of tact-T-kewls from underneath with my middle finger. Then a slight wrist flip will open it the rest of the way, it's very fast. As fast as a flipper, or faster

go ahead, rub it in :D Maybe I can play with them... If I can get my moneys right before blade.

The 21 is smoother out of the box than any other sebbie I have had. What I really enjoy about the 21 is the lack of writing on the back side. It cleans it up so nice.

.

Call ya' soon
