Thinking about a new shooter.

the Blackhawk is one of the most solid revolver designs out there. Definately a firearm I would trust my life to.

i have a .45colt/.45acp... i love it, it will put 5 out of 6 into a playing card at 25yrds with my mag loads.... you can go wrong with a blackhawk

I used to own one and it was a great handgun! My current Blackhawk is a 45 convertable with a 4 5/8 barrel. Great trail gun. So glad I went for the convertable too as I got it just before ammo went all hard to find. Having the ability to run some 45ACP is kinda nice when you can't find 45Colt. And now that 45 Colt has been showing up at the dealers it is running about $35 per 50. 45ACP is downright affordable by comparison. Same can be said for 9mm over 357mag nowadays too.

......for that matter my bh has become my woodsbummin gun, it nudged out my glock30, hits hard, carries light, as reliable as a rock, it pairs with my .45colt lever and with my .45colt mag reloads it can take anything i could poss need it to...

if you buy it, beware... you will get a painfull yearning for a short lever in the same caliber... and .357 is no slouch coming out of a 16" bbl....

sorry about the double post, but edit takes forever on this computer...

I'm not a big single action fine but if I were to ever buy one it would for sure be a Blackhawk. My dad has a Super Blackhawk and it is an excellent gun. If you like it, I say go for it brother.

I love my super Blackhawk 44. I did add after market grips for greater accuracy, but this may not be necessary for the .357.

I've got a .30 carbine Blackhawk and a buddy of mine has the .357. Both are sweet shooters and solid revolvers. Heavy, but solid. Don't forget the "poor boy's trigger job." Works well on these guns.

I have owned almost every caliber available in the Blackhawk, while sometimes it takes a bit to find the load they like best, they are rock solid.

You guys are killing me with your convertible 45 Colt/45 ACP's that's the one I really want, but the practical side was leaning towards the 357/9mm one.

Maybe the 45 one after all! :)

The 45LC is king of of versatile, however, you really need to look into reloading for it.

I have a Blackhawk convertible in .357Mag/9mm with the 4-5/8" barrel. It's a good gun. Going camping this summer in the mountains of Central Utah and plan to have my Blackhawk on my hip loaded with either Magnums or 9mm.

Got the pistol on 2007 and in 2008 I got a Marlin 1894C in .357 Mag to go with. Great pair, fun to shoot and not to pricy. Been thinking about getting another Convertible, this time in .45 LC/.45 ACP.

What do you want to know about this particular revolver? I bought one new in 1977 and still am using it. Solid performer. I did a trigger job on it and have shot, hunted and killed many small critters with it.

I've only used the 9mm cylinder once or twice. Typically run .357s through it cuz I can!

It is a long-time classic with an outstanding track record.

Mainly just curious about how well it shoots 9mm. I've owned a few 357 Blackhawks in the past and always been happy.

Oh it shoots them fine for typical handgun range of zero to 10 yards. Remember the 9mm is a groove diameter of .355 and the jacketed equivelant in the .38/.357 is .357 and .358 for lead respectively. For plinking and practice the 9 works fine. I've used mine for many years. But I find just shooting .38 is just as inexpensive and easy to reload as 9 so I really don't get a lot of mileage out of the 9 cylinder anyway.
