Thinking about a Rift

So I went to SMKW today hoping to handle the 522. No 522 but I did handle the Rift. I liked it. I had been worried that the reverse tanto would lead to an obtuse tip and poor penetration. But I now think that fear is unfounded. The G10 was harsh on the hands at the corners but some 1000 grit sand paper should fix that.

Sheesh, if I go into much more detail this would be a review! Enough of my thoughts, do you guys think I should get a Rift?

I like the rift, but my only deal with it is the choil area, just seems like its missing something. Idk how to explain it but it just feels like I cant choke up on the blade comfortably. But I do dig it, its like a mini contego sorta.

Get it. I sold mine to get a Contego, but I'll be getting another Rift next tax season. My 13y.o. son also has a Rift and loves it.

Get it. I got one and for the first ten minutes wondered about both the size and blade shape. Then I used it a little and found I liked it a great deal. Gets the most pocket time of all my Benchamdes these days.

Get it.
Took me a while to get one, and as soon as I got it and handled/carried/used it I knew I'd been right to buy it. Real BM smoothness and balance. It's my first 154CM blade and I wasn't so sure about the steel. Now I'm impressed with it, fairly easy to sharpen and holds its edge quite well.
Didn't realize it was a Black Class BM until I got the box. My first one of those too.
And to me, the black and grey laminated scales are subtly cool looking.
The lack of jimping and deep choil may concern some but I find it feels secure and easy to grip.

I have a Rift. It's one of the smoothest opening knives that I own. Highly recommended.

The simple answer is yes, get it!

As far as the currently in production Benchmade offering's I think the Rift is probably one of, if not the best sub 4' blade you can get.

It excels on many levels. Smoothest, strongest knife I own in it's class. I just don't see how you can go wrong in getting one.

Best of luck!

I really like it. It fits my hand nice, has the same silky smooth action as all other axis-lock knives, and instills confidence with that beefy reverse tanto blade.

Among other thing's the blade design is what sets it apart. The reverse Tanto gives you the piercing power of a tanto and the large belly is an excellent slicer. It's the best of both worlds with no down side or trade off...

Really a fantastic knife in so many ways.

I am going to get it, but I haven't decided when. I am taking a vacation this month and I don't want to burn a chunk of vacation money this close.

I bought one in impulse a while back and never really liked it. I mean. It was alright for a week cause it was new but after that j realized it wasnt for me. Its the only knife I dont carry. I ended up attenpting some mods on it and I like it a bit better but I still dont carry it.

Ha, because of this thread I dug this knife out and played with it a bit. Now im carrying it today lol. Figures.

Its a great knife. The G10 will soften up a bit. Personally I like reverse tanto so that makes me like the Rift even more.

I received it Wednesday night and carried it today. All I can say is that I *LIKE* it.

Haven't had a whole lot of time for knives today because I found out this morning my house has a bird mite infestation.
Thank God that bird mites don't like anything but birds. So I will be having my house bug bombed or fumigated tomorrow morning while I am at work.
