Thinking about a Vantage Force Pro, question for owners out there

I find myself wanted a blue / black G10 Vantage Force Pro. I've seen a few reports of knives with very late lock-up, and / or off-center blades. These are two issues that really bug me in a knife. I was hoping to hear from some Force Pro owners on whether or not your knives have any issues. I'm guessing that the vast majority of them don't, but I'd like to get some more feedback before I pull the trigger on one. I'd also like to hear how they are holding up over time. Thanks in advance

I originally thought that the blade coating would scratch or come off but so far it has held up. I like it and would recommend it...

Got a stonewashed Vantage Force Pro with the camo G10 about two months ago, and it rides in my left rear pocket on a daily basis... Lockup is at about 25% and hasn't moved at all. The closed back spacer really helps with keeping gunk out of the knife, and the heat treat on the S30V is spot on... All in all I am very pleased with the Vantage Force Pro and definitely give it two thumbs up!

I won't comment on how they hold up because none of my knives get much if any real use. However, I have both the Force Pro and Avid. There's no problem at all with the lock up on either one. Both came with the blade well centered but a little too tight to flip open as easily as I would like. After a slight adjustment of the blade pivot screw, they flip open easily. The centering isn't as perfect anymore but isn't objectionable in my opinion as that's a minor issue.

Mine has been first rate in every respect. Looks good, nice steel, flicks easily, and carries deep. Its a little on the spendy side, but this stuff ain't free. Check out the Nutnfancy review, and then go for it.

I only have one a Buck 846 Black Vantage Force, Avid (dated 11-30-11) and like it. Lockup is great.

When closing the blade tip does touch at about the last inch and rub against the non-clip steel side (I did not notice until I checked as I was reading this thread). You can hear it rub also. After watching the Nutnfancy's youtube Buck Advantage review he would send mine back to Buck. Not worth the S&H costs to me. I don't see it as a major item just a small flaw.

That being said I will get another one or two in Desert Tan:D

Where are you planning to buy?

The Vantage is a terrific series, with high-quality knives, good selection and pricing. But Buck has not entirely eliminated QC issues. At a recent show, I tried to buy the small Vantage Select, the cheapest in the line, as gifts. But the rep couldn't find any that were centered.

I have a half-dozen different Vantage models, and in my experience, that is unusual.

Still, I recommend buying in person so you can see what you're getting.

If that's impossible, I'd buy directly from Buck -- their consumer reps are top-flight. I've done this and been very satisified.

Or, consider an online dealer who will inspect it for you, or who will exchange it or take it back, if you're unhappy.

Good luck and have fun -- the Vantages really are great folders.
