Thinking about another Spyderco, what's missing from my collection?

My birthday is coming up next week, and my wife needs some gift ideas. I'm thinking about another Spyderco since they are my current favorite. My collection is pretty well rounded out though, so I'm trying to decide what to go with. I was thinking about a Caly 3.5. Any other suggestions? No special need or purpose for it, just a decent medium-size EDC knife. Here is what I have thus far:

3 Enduras
2 Delicas
2 Paramilitary 2's
Stretch Spyderedge
Matriarch 2
Gayle Bradley
Caly 3
Sage 1
Sage 2

If none of your Para 2's are sprint runs, you could go for one!

Any Spydie with ZDP189? Perhaps another choice...

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm on the fence about whether or not I like the styling on the Chinese folders. I do like the look of the "R" Nishijin however. I would consider a fixed blade, but I do have several ESEE's, a Bravo 1, and a few BHK's, so I'm probably good there. I do like the Military. Only drawback is that I'm patrial to tip-up carry. As for ZDP-189, I have the Caly 3 and FFG ZDP Endura. Any thoughts or the Superleaf? Doesn't seem to be a very popular model for whatever reason. Which Sprint para 2 would be a good one to have? Not sure if a Sprint would be in the budget or not...

Manix 2 or Manix 2 XL, I'd recommend the Manix 2 Xl if you don't mind the extra size, due to the S30V and FFG, Howe's has them for $89 shipped right now.

I did some more research and I kept coming back to the Caly 3.5. I ended up buying it for myself since my wife doesn't have an Ebay account. My wife did end up buying me a ZT 0350, she just doesn't know it yet;)

hope the TS doesn't mind a rider. this is to avoid starting a new thread. for my second spyderco, i'm now thinking of a somewhat hard-use type that can replace my buck 110/112 for outdoor use. my delica i'm limiting to fine slicing chores (i'm too much in love with it.) i'm thinking of something comparable to the "muscle strenght" of a cold steel voyager or recon but having the sweet edge of the spyders.

i'm forced to show my disdain for framelocks but if it's the way to go in terms of stength and reliability, so be it. :)

I'm not sure if Spyderco makes any folders that are quite as beefy as a Cold Steel Recon 1, but the Superleaf and Manix / Manix XL all look pretty stout. If you like your Delica then an Endura might be a good choice. In addition to being larger overall, the blade is a good bit thicker as well. Also take a look at the Paramilitary 2.

If you do not have Caly3.5 get it without any hesitation. IMHO this is one of the best production EDC knives ever made.
I carried Caly3 every day since they came out. And that knife was replaced with Caly3.5, when it came out. I love both, but it is nice to have an extra .5" blade in the same package. I can say only good things about Caly3.5: fantastic ergos, very compact closed, FFG blade, very thin blade after the edge, which makes it great slicer, low riding wire clip. I love the look.

You want/need a Gayle Bradley, or the Techno or Tuff when they are released. Any of these would be plenty strong IMO, but for the price, the GB is an absolute bargain.

Good to hear! I really like my Caly 3, but when I got it in my hand it was a bit smaller than what I was expecting. I also wish the CF was a bit more textured. I think the 3.5 will be just about perfect. On a side note, my Sage 2 showed up today and it is NICE. I must admit, all of my Taiwan-made Spyderco's have exceeded my every expectation.

I'd say just to go a little different, consider the Police 3. It is super thin and pocketable for EDC, but packs a monster blade.

I think you did good on choosing the Caly 3.5 . It was the last Spyderco I bought and it's been riding in my pocket since then. Okay, it's only been a couple of weeks but still... :p

I would love to pick up another Police model one day. I used to have an older one w/ the ATS-55 blade steel and Spyderedge. I sold it recently, but plan to eventually replace it. It did carry well for such a large knife. Mine was tip-down only, which I didn't care for. The new ones seem to have a few improvements.

Well my Caly 3.5 is on the way. In the meantime my sister got me a $250 gift card to Amazon:thumbup: looks like there might be another Spyderco in my future. I'm kinda eyeballing the police model now, maybe the Spyderedge version since that is what I used to have.

I would suggest a Engraved Kris == NIB -----everybody needs at least one in there collection.!* ~ ~ ~ don't they..??*
