I have been pondering getting a Randall Model 1 "All-Purpose Fighting Knife" with a 7" blade. But I'm kind of confused about ordering from them...when I went to place an order I came across this...

Current order deliveries are being scheduled for approximately forty-two months. Order limit is two knives per household every other month. We strongly recommend obtaining the catalog to view all features before placing an order.A deposit of US$20.00 per knife is required to place an order. Deposits are not transferable and non-refundable. Credit card user name must match the individual's name placing the order. Shipping charges are determined by Randall Made Knives based on weight, value and destination in the year of delivery.

This may sound really stupid(LOL) but can anyone explain what they mean? This being my first Randall purchase I want to make sure I get everything right...Thanks!

1. You place order
2. You pay $20
3. You wait 42 months
4. You pay the rest
5. You get the knife
6. You enjoy! :D

3. You wait 42 months

 Screw that, I woudn't wait 42 months for ANY knife, I don't care how nice, valuable or in demand they are!!! The only way I would wait that long on a knife is if I had a knifemaker, making me a full custom knife of my own design, with exotic materials of my choice and this was the only maker that was able to pull it off.

Me, I would pay the whole amount and forget about it...

Then, in about 4 years, I get an amazing surprise...

....and...it will be worth more when you get it than what you paid for it. Better gamble than the stock market!

Well if you want one of the more popular Randalls, or if you want one with optional materials there is a good chance that you will will have to wait 42 months. If not, you could order one from one of the stores that carry them. The wait is usually a lot less, but the harder to get Randalls may take just as long to get this way as well.

If you order a knife directly from Randall you will have to wait 42 months to get it. You can order as many as two knives and can do so every two months. A $20.00 deposit is required for each knife that you order. The deposit is non-transferable. I don't know if this was done because some people were selling their spots in line for a profit, but this was being done. Kind of like scalping.

Thanks guys! That's what I thought I read...lol I just couldn't believe it. I think I might do it... I sent away for the catalog and we'll see what's up. $20 bucks now and the rest later is worth it to me. Especially since I don't have to shell out the whole amount at once and can put a little aside every week, not that $260 is alot of money but this process would make it more fun...I guess ;)!
