Thinking about changing up my EDC. Persian vs Roadhouse

So I've been carrying my Roadhouse for a bit now and I am thinking of trading it toward a Persian.

My main gripes with the RH:
~It's quite tall when closed.
~Wave is useless to me.
~I don't use pocket clips.
~No utility for me. I feel the blade is just too big and scary to whip it out.

The two are comparible in length and weight.

Would this be a wise move?

I don't see why not carry the Persian. Even with the amazing Emerson heat treatment the tip of the Persian might prove to be more frail than the Roadhouse.

I really do not need an overly robust blade. Just something a little easier to carry when I want a medium sized folder.

I used to carry a knife for SD, basically. No more. I am protected. :)
Anyhoo, try a Mini; A100, M Commander or M CQC7.
The Roadie and the Persian folders are for SD.

i don't see the persian being any less "big and scary" than a roadhouse. the persian is a big knife..thin but long. seems you are on the wrong track for your dont need list. i love the persian, but for your list i'd look at other models that fit the bill better.

I'll support what the others say, a Persian probably isn't much improvement over the Roadhouse, other than the "tall when closed", in fac t the Persian could be seen as scaruer than a Roadhouse, and its not a small knife either... A100 is probably the least scary of all Emerson's, and obviously a neat tidy slim package

The Persian is a great knife, but it's main purpose is to defeat body armor. I think it looks more wicked/scarier than the Roadhouse. If you are looking for an all around utility type blade, I would suggest the Specwar A blade. The B blade is the Tanto version with the chisel grind. I personally prefer the A style blade. I feel it's more versatile. It has no wave it, it has a slim profile in the pocket and the blade is a medium length. It was one of Emersons first designs and I believe it has stood the test of time. I personally would have a set of contoured scales made in the choice of your color along with a nice matching back spacer and nice clip. But, that's just me. I can't leave well enough alone!:D
The Horseman is also a great EDC design, that is also very well designed for utilitarian functions. I would do the same to that one too and pimp it out!:p

I'm going to pick up a Persian and a CQC7 with the tanto blade. I'll make Fikes and Phil proud and modify it with a zero edge. Likely get a mini RH as well... need to carry them all and see what works.

I always have a SAK in my bag, these Emersons are just to add a bit of flavour... I'm also thinking that the persian can sit in my tackle box when I go fly fishing in Nazi Lawed Japan. Lookes like a filet knife...

I love my Emerson Persian.

It feels great in the hand.

A fast and scary weapon. At least it carries the width of the blade all the way out to nearly the tip.

Gentleman Jim for the win. Or a Horseman. I could be remembering incorrectly, but I think you can have Emerson "de-wave" your knife.

I bought a non-waved cqc7 off the exchange. I love Hartsfield and Fikes (he still owes me a knife) so im going to zero edge the beveled side. Still looking for a Persian.

Remember, there is a trade-off with the zero grind. A2 is a perfect steel for the zero.

The Persian is great for SD, but for everyday tasks, not so much. My favorite all-around Emerson is the 10.

I want a super roadhouse kwaiken from Nath. That armored tip would do some major damage. He has a full custom now that is beautiful! He is truly gifted.

I agree.^
And, Nath has closed his book, at least for a year.
Why won't Ernest design a EKI kwaiken??
