can anybody recommend a brand? I have looked at Bulldogs, Henckels, Hen and Rooster, and Eye Brand. I have only seen these on the web, I haven't handled any of them. But I do own a Bulldog and an Eye Brand and I like both of those pretty well. Does anyone know anything, quality wise, about Hen and Rooster or Henckels? Also, does Queen make a congress? I haven't been able to find one from Queen. I would appreciate any help I can get.

I can't comment on the German brands...but Queen makes a very nice large four blade congress with premium D2 steel blades and carved genuine bone handles.

They also make a 2-blade large congress in cocobolo or delrin handles.

Try www.cumberlandknifeworks.com

I would also, definately, check out Schatt and Morgan (Queen). I am no expert in slip joints, but I have found S&M to be some of the very very best production slips.

oldewelder,
Here is a picture of the Schatt and Morgan that jayharley was talking about. (picture from AG Russell).

but after seeing that Schatt Morgan Rail Splitter on the Cumberland Knife page, I think I changed my mind!! I might have to get that one tomorrow.
