Thinking about getting a Paramilitary 2 Sprint.....

I'm really on the fence about getting one and have been for a while. I'm on a Spyderco kick lately and I've been thinking about picking up the brown handled version with S35VN. The only thing that's keeping me on the fence is that I can't see myself liking the Para 2 more than I like the Manix 2. Do you guys ever feel this way about certain knives that are kind of similar? What do you think I should do? Join the para 2's legions of followers or just stick with my old faithful Manix 2 and save the money?

You be askin the wrong crowd. mon. If you like the PM2, by all means get one. It is a fine knife with superior features. Well worth the money.

I think they are both on the same level, you're going to have to go with what you like better. Which steel works better for you, which handle works better for you, which lock works better for you, which blade shape works better for you.

Blade shape is going to be the biggest factor I think.

I love my m390 pm2 sprint it's every bit what expected then some more I say get 1 and you won't regret it

^This. Members of BF snatch up any good knife they can get, provided they have a good excuse and enough funds...so the answer to these questions will almost always be a resounding "Hell Yea"

Personally, I say if you got the money, and it won't hurt your budget, then go for it. Far too much good has been said about the Para 2 for you to miss out on it. Also keep in mind that knives like the Para 2 don't diminish in value at all if kept in good condition. So if you get it and figure you don't want it, tons of BF members would love to buy it from you for the same price you paid for it I'm sure.

The Manix 2 is basically a US made combo of the Tenacious and PM2. It combines the cheap price with most of the good things about the PM2. If you like the Manix, you should love the PM2.

I've had one Manix2 with M4 steel. Very nice knife. Never used it; sold it.
I've had 15-20 PM2's in various flavors, with just about all of the blade-steels. They are super. I sold most of them in a fit of debt.
I have since repurchased 5-7 PM2's again, but no fancy blade-steels; primarily S30V which is a good steel.
Of course, I only carry one; the others just sit there and look pretty.

i was in the same boat as you just a few weeks ago. been a long time military user but only a month ago did i buy my first manix 2 and pm2...best bet is to buy a production version (unless you get in early on a sprint run from a dealer so you don't get beat up by aftermarket prices) and see which one you like best.

having both, i wish my manix 2 was full flat grind and skeletonized liners since it feels too heavy in the pocket when wearing business attire...also, i think the pm2 looks classier whereas the manix 2 just screams tactical - i'm fine with that too but the pm2 just blends in with everything.

i think with the huge demand for pm2 right now is the perfect time to try one if you can find one. you can easily re-sell it if you don't like it and even get all your money back too, or more if you want.

ditto.

Thanks a lot guys I think I'm just gonna take a chance and buy one it's not like I haven't done it before.

You won't regret it.
I got the Manix2 first because it was the most normal-looking Spyderco I could find that fit my hand. It is a great blade, but I found it too bulky in my pocket.
I got on the bandwagon, and picked up a sprint Para2 (mine's the blue M390.) I LOVE this thing! Carried it nearly every day for the past year.
I don't want to sound like a fanboi; I have purchased, used and enjoyed other knives since then, but the Para is the one that makes it into the pocket.
Great steel, great ergos, great lock, great F&F, great grind, great weight, great size, great functionality. Like many, many other people (though, admittedly, not all) I really can't fault it.

Weight on the Manix 2 has never bothered me really. You've sold me on the Para 2 though man.
