Thinking about getting another CQC14

I had PE/SF model a couple months ago, and decided to trade it away when I had a Spyderco Mini Manix enroute. My reasoning was that I didn't really care for the Liner lock,or the wave feature, and figured the 80mm Manix with it's 2-3/4" cutting edge and backlock would be a better/legal alternative for an EDC.
Unfortunately the CQC14 was gone by the time I recieved the Mini Manix. While the Manix had great handles ergo's, comparable to the Snubby, the blade profile was huge. Yes it did have a 2-3/4" cutting edge, but the wide blade profile made it pretty intimidating to non knife people. I have since traded the Mini Manix away, and would like another full sized knife, with a sub 3" blade. Which leads me back to the CQC14. There just doesn't seem to be another knife out there with similar blade length, and handle ergos. The 14 I had and great handle ergo's, and the blade length while not legal in alot a municipalities, which have 2.5" blade lengths, is closer. Plus being an Electrician, I can leagally carry a larger knife for work, as a "tool". I just don't want to push the envelope. Anyways I think I may pull the plug today and order one today..I think I just need a push too help me get over the fence from all you knife enablers:D

I wonder what got you thinking about a CQC-14 lately...:D

Oh yeah, ehem, DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

Hmmmm...... I wonder how this idea got planted in my head....and it won't get out...lol.

If you don'tmind me asking where did you order your satin finished 14 from? The cheapest I found was $149.00. I can get the coated blade at knifeworks for $145.00, but I think i want to go with the satin finish. If, big IF, I decide to chop off the wave...it will be easier and less conspicuous with the satin finished blade.

Dave---The Wave feature is optional. I really like it. I can use it or not. Why don't you like it?

The cheapest satin finish I could find was was for $171 shipped, except for the one I snagged on eBay.

I just didn't care for the little "nub" that sticks up. I won't be chopping it off, i'll leave it be it may grow on me after a while.

I pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered the CQC14 with the black coated plain edge blade, thanks Kaizen....lol. I got it from Knifeworks for $151.00 shipped. NGK, my preffered dealer was all out so I went with Knifeworks, my backup..and saved a few bucks as well.
I decided to go with the black blade since my little collection doesn't have a knife with a coated blade, and I've always like them for the cool tactical factor.
Now for the slow wait for the new addition.

Looks like the EKI 14 is on the back burner. I can't find a dealer with any in stock. I thought I was all set at Knifeworks, as they showed 1 in stock, but after ordering they sent an email saying they are out, and they are on BO:grumpy:. I then ordered at The Bladeshop, with the same response. Now I've got to wait, because The Bladeshop charged my CC before they even saw if the had the EKI in stock, now I have to wait for the credit before I can shop around again:mad:

Maybe the timing will be right as most of the dealers are showing Feb.25 as the week they will be getting the CQC14's in. i'm not holding my breath though...from what i've been reading EKI doesn't necessarily get these knives out on schedule.

Well just sent a money order out for a NIB CQC14. I found it on the for sale page on the "other forum". It seems like a good deal. It's that black blade model, I really wanted the satin finished blade but as there both coated it doesn't really matter, there both going to show scars. I'm just glad I finally got one, it will make for a great EDC.

I finally recieved my CQC14BT yesterday:thumbup: I forgot what a great knife this was to hold, the ergos are next to perfect for my hand. This one won't be leaving anyime soon. I think it's karma me getting finally getting another, my first CQC14 was numbered 0042, this one is 0420:D
Anyone have one of these reground? I'm thinking, once I'm back to work, to have it reground to a flat grind. Maybe even a convex edge like my Barkies. That would make this knife the perfect work folder. But until then, the EKI edge will certainly do, the blade is scary sharp right now:eek:
