Thinking about getting the Otterbox stropping system...

Hey brothers,

So I have yet to buy a strop for my blades... not sure why.
Was wondering if any of you had a recommendation on stropping systems?

I like the fact that the OtterBox has the compounds (green and black) included in the kit, as well as sand paper with 4 varying grits for maintaining the convex grinds on any blade.

So, just to be sure this is my best bet, I am asking you guys.

To be honest, I've never heard of the Otterbox Stropping System. Do you have a link to the website?

EDIT: I believe you are talking about the one sold on KSF. I haven't heard much discussion on it. Looks well-packaged though... Here is the link in case anyone else has a stupid moment. :o

Are you talking about the kit KSF sells? It looks nice but judging from the size of that box the leather hone is probably around 4" long. Unless you are specifically looking for a travel kit, I would recommend getting a full size setup.

I've had one for a few years and I think its great. As someone else said it is best used as a travel kit but I used it as my home "convex kit" until I built up my supplies.

We have had great feedback from this kit. Once you get the hang of it, you can sharpen any size blade on it easily.

As to whether you can put the same thing together for less than we sell it....Yes, you can. Blades, micarta and kydex are less expensive than an ESEE knife too. :)
