I have a 12" AK and love it. I'm not in the market for anything very large, but I can't help but thinking a 15" AK would be just a bit better and have a larger "sweet spot". Then again, I'm not sure about the length issue or even if there is a significant difference between the two. Anyone out there own an 12" & 15" AK to compare??

Lots of folks...there are all kinds of differences.

The size and weight to start with, though 3" may not sound like much when you hold them there feels like a much bigger difference IMO.

I don't have a 10 incher but recently got a 15 inch CAK. If I had it to do again, I'd go with a longer kuk, maybe 18 inches

Depending on your AKs, the 15 can be twice as heavy, more blade heavy as the 12 inch, and wakes you up and makes you leave the house looking for something to chop.

Lotsa folks like larger khuks.

I have a 12 in Pen, 12 in AK, 15 AK, and belt knife.

and someotherstuff

Please read the safety thread.

For me, comfortable handles start at 16" and up. 15" is decent, but a skosh small. Most of the smaller khuks I have to choke up or use a three finger (plus thumb) grip. I only have a few rarer models in the 12" range, though, so this might not apply to the 12" AK.

My 12" seems like a toy next to the 15", like a Kabar to a machete.

Only 3" difference in length ~1lbs difference in weight, and now I've got a Grand Baby Ak 9", it's cute.

The 15" AK is a wonderful, all-around, well-rounded tool, light enough to carry well, well balanced, and powerful.

Other competitors in a size-efficient contest would surely be the 14" BDC, 16.5" WWII, and 17" BGRS.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh. One of those things that aren't dirty, but sound dirty. :)
