Thinking about one. Questions.

Hey. Thinking about a camo pattern xm18 3.5 but swapping scale to blue or orange.

Are they user serviceable? Does RH void my warranty if I take it apart and clean and lube myself?

How is the sv35vn from them?

Does it sharpen up easily (I touch mine up often, not to polished but pop a hair edge fairly regular) on a sharp maker?

Lot of money. I have a large and a small Sebenza but I hear about how great the hinderers are and got me curious.

RHK encourages self servicing your xm. It is really easy and they even make a takedown tool that is very handy (but not necessary). See the sticky at the top of this forum for takedown and reassembly instructions. The s35vn is very tough, holds a great edge, and is easy to maintain. I highly recommend getting one. Try an xm for sure. You will not be disappointed.

Clean, maintain..(if possess the talents to) sharpen..all are encouraged. RHK will re-sharpen the XMs for a fee when time allows too, if anyone wants to go that route.

Their S35VN is excellent and the stonewashed finish is very attractive to most. I hit my EDCs on the kitchen steel to keep the edge sharp and if necessary from time to time grab the WE system.

Here's a thread on sharpening XMs..

Sebenzas are not Hinderers and Hinderers are not Sebenzas...get an XM in your hands and you will see exactly what I mean.

Sweet. Thanks. Pulled the trigger this morning. Just gotta wait on ups now.

Need2know, yeah I know they different and built for completely different uses. I do absolutely love my sebbys for sure but there are thing I don't like. If this one lives up to what I've read, it will fill that need for something a bit tougher, especially with the spanto tip.

^^ Before I bought my first XM I stood in my local knife shop staring at and fondling a small Seb and a 3" XM-18 spanto for about an hour. I chose the XM and haven't looked back ;)

The Seb was nice, but I prefer flippers and something about the XM spoke to me whereas I was kinda ambivalent IRT the Seb. I may still pick one up some day, then again that's money I could put toward another XM...

I own a Sebenza. Other popular must-owns as well. Simply because I need to know...before I can give honest opinions and thoughts.

I believe the xm-18 will fit the bill nicely for you! I sold almost all of my CRK to fund my xm-18 addiction. And I know a few others here have done the same

Oh my sebbys won't be leaving my case for sure.

I've never been a flipper fan, but have only owned a leek, so never had a serious flipper. I figure if I don't like it, I'll sell and break even at least. If I love it I'll carry it more often than the sebbys, but they'll still have their place in my use.

Understand this very well. Not everyone needs the same things/features/attributes/etc. in their pocket tools.

I too have a Leek. But just like the Sebenza...it's sitting unused (not that they haven't been used, just not currently in my pockets).

That's exactly how I felt... I liked my other knives, but they just didn't get any pocket time. So off they went! Now I use all my XM's in my weekly rotation

I just couldn't justify keeping my others if I wasn't going to use them. I know how some of you just collect. But me i have to use :)

I did that also. I had a nice collection of CRKs, zero tolerance, and a few other good brands. After my first hinderer they got no pocket time so off they went and funded more RHKs. :)
