Thinking about the stag AG110...

Yeah, I like Ni-Ag bolsters... don't like black blades. Still, the Cabela's AG series 110 in stag handles is a looker - and considerably less dear than the C S variant ($155 vs $225+). Cabela's didn't help matters... I got another $20 off a $150 purchase coupon yesterday - watch your mail box! Hmmm, $148 w s/h... now all I need is the $148!

I do have the wood scale version of the AG 110 - wish I'd bought a spare - that's a handy knife - and a beauty, too. I bought it long before I knew there was a BCCI - or a Buck C S. Still, I need a stag 110... don't I? Gee, this illness gets expensive. Any more 'discounts' at the C S? I can dream...

I purchased one of these a couple of months ago and have to say it is a great looking knife, dark blade and all.

I have the AG 110 with Rosewood Handles. Super sharp, great looking knife, but after I got it I had to send it back to Buck because the blade had so much play in in. It was fixed and I have had no other problems with it.

If you have not seen the stag AG in hand, it does look much better than in the pictures.

Ni-Ag is just a name. I am familiar with it - and it's properties - from my abortive attempts at being a luthier (I made mountain dulcimers.), where it can be found in fret wire and tuners, to my son's HO train tracks, where it was an 'upgrade' due to it's corrosion resistance. I just have a problem referring to it as 'white brass', another common name for it.

It does make far better looking bolsters, finger guards, and pommels in my NVHO - especially so over aluminum.

PS I wonder how much more my G-scale model train track would cost if it were made from nickel-silver? Never mind!

I went down to the Lacey Cabela's yesterday and in holiday traffic on the 5; it was a killer trip. I wanted to buy one of the stag 110's to wear on my antelope hunt n two weeks. The guy behind the knife counter didn't know what I was talking about and I never did see a clam pack 110, not that I would have bought one. I can do that at Walmart for 26 bucks. They did have a 110 in a wooden box that had a buck deer cut through the blade. I hope to stop in post falls on the way home from the hunt.

BigJohn...
Why not order ir on-line from Cabela's? You will have it in time for your trip if you do it this week.

That's a common problem and not limited to Cabela's; Gander Mountain has their own knife department and believe it or not, my girlfriend's daughter [the cheerleader] knew more about what they were selling than the Gander salesperson (who was in his 50's at least). He was also a grumpy a$$hole, if I may say so in this forum...

Bass Pro wasn't much better...The salesman (who seemed to think he was an outdoor sports expert) kept wanting to know what I wanted to use it for [a BP110]...because there were so many better choices...

I agree with whatsisname...Online buy is your best bet...:thumbup:

Buckaholic and Chicketrax-: I could but like to keep the wife out of it. I will be driving through Post Falls on my way TO Wyoming, in two weeks, and will stop by Buck to check things out. I'll be ready for lunch about the time I hit there anyway. I have my four dot finger groove I'll be taking with me and I already have two stag customs but would like another for an EDC. Life is sweet, at present.

That guy at bass pro must be working in Lacey now because you described him to a T. I hate to even talk to the hired help anymore unless they are cute 20 year olds (females).
