Thinking of buying a Lone Wolf D2 Automatic

I would like some feedback before I do. I like the double action, hidden auto switch, length of 3.9 inches and I intend to carry & use this knife daily. The street price seems reasonable and I like the idea it's made in Oregon. Do you think this is the knife for me? Why? Why not? I am anticipating it will not "wobble" or "0" wobble when auto deployed. Thanks for your help...

Why Not .........
We know absolutely NOTHING about you.
Check with your parents first.
See if they will allow you to play with knives, terrrorizing the children at school and in the neighborhood.

Welcome to BF!!! I would be hesitant to buy anything by Lone Wolf, as I have been reading about QC issues.

Thank you for the welcome. I'll put some time in to find out more about any problems they are having. I have this quirk where I like everything to work well... Do you have anything to recommend me taking a look at? I carry a 4 inch Puma folder I carried in Vietnam. The SS blade will sharpen up nicely, but difficult to get just right. A blade that is easy to sharpen is important. It's also time to put it away for my son before I lose it or something...

fordf250: JGarth's point is that it's hard to find the right knife for YOU if we don't know anything about YOU. You gave us information about the knife, but nothing other than it will be used.

As far as your quirk goes, you'll find that it's prevalent among many of us knife guys.

A note on the steel- D2 will NOT sharpen up easily. D2 is among the tougher steels to sharpen, even when it's not overly hard.

I've yet to own a Lone Wolf knife (illegal here, and not worth the hassle when my Spydie will do the job just fine), but I've heard almost exclusively positive review about them. Try running an advanced search in the knife reviews and testing on lone wolf.

Welcome to BladeForums btw.

I had serious quality control and safety issues with my Lone Wolf Lobo auto, and received zero customer service satisfaction. I'd never buy a Lone Wolf product again.

The D2 has S30V steel not D2 steel. Everything I have heard has been GREAT! I know of a couple of 1 week turnarounds when a knife went in for repairs. THANKS! Kevin:) :)

Whoops, thanks for the correction!

S30V isn't as bad as D2 to sharpen, but it's pretty close...

Since I bought my Lone Wolf Harsey T2 (Standard op, not AO) it has become my first choice pocket carry knife whether I'm fishing, shooting, hunting, trapping or simply bushcrafting in the woods. It locks up solid and is comfortable in the hand. I did reprofile the edge to a fine convex soon after I got it. Despite being used daily for the last 4 months or so it has only ever needed a quick wipe on a loaded strop to keep it scary sharp. The S30V is a bit of a sod to hone initially but it's well worth the effort.
No QC issues or faults with the design or handling of the knife in my opinion. I know it's a slightly different knife to the one you are looking at, but I know that if I were to lose my T2 I'd be straight off to buy another.

From everything i read the QC issues were with the automatics only and not the other knives. Also i have heard that they have cleaned up their QC issues but if any are found they have EXCELLANT customer service
