Thinking Of Buying A William Henry.

I've been entertaining the idea of purchasing my first William Henry knife. They look absolutely beautiful and seem to be extraordinarily well-built. I've been on the hunt for new , quality gentleman's edc. I have plenty of BM's , Spydies and ZT's. But this time around I want something different.

I know next to nothing about WH. Just what I have read on their site. Does anyone have any experiences or feedback they can share to help me better decide ?

Their EDC series is quite nice. I got a chance to see one in person, and it's high quality all the way. If you want a well built, classy folder that would definitely be the way to go.

I've got a couple of the older T12 models(pearl with Norris damascus, and a Superconductor), and have handled others.
They are made as well as any handmade knife. I've never seen a production knife that opens as smooth as a William Henry.
I haven't handled any of the newer models, but I would think they would still be made just as well.

Sounds good so far. I wonder how the German D2 steel blades perform? And how thick are the blades ? The E6 and E10 both have my attention.

The E models have aluminum handles. I've not had much experience with D2 made in Germany, with the exception of Bohler K110 that is akin to a super D2. It's a superb steel. WH makes some elegant knives, if you like the button lock. It's solid and smooth. Typically their knives are super sharp. The couple I own have blades that I consider on the thick side. But mine are the very small B04 and B09.

This is my William Henry E10-2 Drop Point knife with a tungsten carbide coated D2 blade. The frame is 6061 Aluminum with Box Elder Burl inlays in the covers. It is a well built knife and makes a nice EDC. The lock mechanism is a push button. I don't think you could go wrong by buying one. Very sturdy.

As Jerrry said; the blades on these knives come super sharp. The D2 holds a great edge and requires just a little stroping after use to keep it super sharp.

Here is a vid of my 4 WH knives - all in the 795 - 1400 price range. All superb, and the ZDP-189 damascus ones are sturdy as a small sebenza, or close to it. I really like them. The EDC (value models) ones are reputedly as well built, just with less exotic materials.

Those are some nice knives. Thanks for sharing.

Shoot for the the ZDP-189 laminated blade, the button lock, and the B-15 size blade. I like the Titanium handles, but they are not as dressy. Pocket clips also enhance the utility.

If you can find a T12, jump on it (not literally). My T12CF is one of my favorite light EDCs. I much prefer the liner lock to the button lock.

Asked and answered.

Hi there, I am looking at buying my boyfriend either the B04 Ares Folding Knife or B09 Scout Folding Knife. I see that you have both the B04 and B09. I do not know too much about knives but want to get him a good one. Of those two, which do you like best of yours and would you recommend getting?

I love my T12 Onyx as well. Planning to buy a new WH to keep it company sometime this year. All I can say is that my T12 is the finest knife I own and I also own 2 CRKs. Great knife.

Classy, lightweight and superb quality. I have two: EDC E10-3 (3.25" D2) and B12 Atlas (3" ZDP-189). I carry the B12 (first one below) most often.

If you are looking at the E6 or E10 I would recommend going with the larger E10 as I have the E6 and it quite small and I wish I got the larger. Other than that they are amazingly well made, they are the only company to take the quality award away from CRK. Their D2 is perfectly done and the thin hollow grind slices like you wouldnt believe.
