Thinking of getting a few new knives.

Once I find a part time job for the summer (College student), I'm wanting to add a few more knives to my collection. I've always liked knives, but never to the point of wanting multiple knives that could do the same job. Recently, I've really gotten into knives for some reason. I guess guns and woodworking won't be the only expensive hobbies I have now. :D I've probably looked through a hundred knives on Amazon, and I ended up with a a cart with about $450 worth of knives in it. I guess the knife bug bit me hard. :o

Anyways, I've narrowed it down to about $150, which is about all I want to spend right now. I don't have a specific need for these knives. They're mainly just for enjoyment. After narrowing down the long list of knives I liked, here's what I've picked. Any thoughts?

Schrade SCHF30

Got that price range, a lot of nice custom knives in the exchange, I would also recommend JK knives, though I think you wanted a few knives. Also look at getting an ESEE and Swiss Army knife in Alox handles, good combo. Just my two cents. Good luck.

What I would say is that for $150 you could seriously upgrade your knife collection rather that stick at the level of these knives...not that they will not give you pleasure, but you could buy some higher tier knives that are made somewhere besides China.

If you're looking for knives to put to use, I'll be honest I would go a very different direction. I would recommend a Victorinox with a tool selection that strikes you as particularly useful that you can toss in a pocket, a Spyderco Endura or Delica depending on what size folder you prefer, and a KABAR BK5 as a solid outdoor fixed blade. Maybe toss in a Tramontina machete if you have a few dollars left over at the end. If you later decide that you're not quite as into knives, that combo will still serve you well, likely for the rest of your life, and honestly should accomplish any knife task you're ever likely to run into.

The Ontario SP1 is a good, quality knife. The others - not so much. The Boker and the CRKT are not bad.

Personally, I would go with a Becker BK 15 or 16 and a Spyderco Endura 4. Good simple package that will handle 99% of what you will ever run into and are both very good knives.

I'd avoid Boker Magnum, it's all no-name stuff with Boker's branding on it. Schrade and CRKT are okay, Ontario is good, but you should also check out Becker and ESEE for fixed blades, Spyderco Endura/Delica/PM2 or Ontario RAT 1/RAT 2/Utilitac for folders.

I'd buy a delica and a mora companion and that should leave some cash left over.

Thanks fellas for the suggestions. I went back through and looked at all the suggestions along with a few other knives. I saw a lot that I want to eventually get. I looked at the Beckers, and I like them but they were a little pricy for right now. I did find a Kabar I liked though that was a little cheaper. The OKC, Boker Plus, and the CRKT I really liked, so I'll keep them on the list until I find something I like better. I also took a look at Kershaw and I found a few I liked. Mainly the Link. So far, I have 3 American made knives, and two maid in Thailand and China (Not an issue to me if they're made well)

I'm not done looking by far. This is just what I have for now.

Kershaw Link - $32
Ka-Bar 2-1233-8 - $36
Boker Plus Kalashnikov 14 - $37
CRKT M16-10KSF - $19
OKC SP1 - $34
