Thinking of getting a folding saw.

I recently sold off some knives and figure I earned myself a new toy. I have a trailblazer sawvivor folding buck saw, and it's handy enough and you can replace blades, but it's terrible in tight spots and such, as you can imagine. My sak saws cut great but are just too small.
I hear bahco's are nice for the money, and silkys have a great reputation, as well as coronas. My budget is around 40$ CAN but I could go higher if you thonk it's necessary.
Also I am not sure what size to get.
Thanks!

how much, and what wood do you want to process? big advantage of the silkies is picking the tooth count. if you have a chainsaw store near you, you should be able to find a bahco, or a re-brand easily enough.

Probably nothing bigger than 3, maybe 4 inches.
Other than fiskers there is not a lot of selection locally, but I managed to find a Canadian Hardware store that will ship a corona 7 inch from the main warehouse and it should be in Thursday. Found an online store that sells silkys for an ok price too but I don't want to start a new obsession.

Get a SILKY. the best by a long shot. Cleanest cut. Different tooth selection. Replaceable blades. Functional sheaths. Crazy fast cutting. I swear by my Silky Saws. They blow my corona out of the water

My corona I have is junk in comparison to the silky"s. In every aspect right down to even the feel. It's like buying something professional grade vs homeowner

I completely agree - Silky's are exceptional!

What silky model/size and tooth size do you guys recommend for a packable and all around user? (green and seasoned wood?)

I've got the silky gomboy and I think it is a great combo of packability and usability. Thats the route I would go if I was you

Gomboy is an excellent route. The pocket boy is good too. I would almost recommend getting a zubat330 to hang from the outside of your pack if it could be a nonfolding saw. It just all depends on what you plan on cutting. My zubat rips like a small topping chainsaw. Takes down 8" stuff no problem, with no gas

Silky is #1 in my book as well. I have a number of their pocket boy models. They are very handy to have!

Depending on how you plan to use it, you only need one or two...or maybe a few...more. :D

While they might seem expensive for a folding saw, the Silky Super Excel is where I think you should begin. Amazon has them right now for less than $35 US. That's nothing compared to its usefulness or a couple of Mora knives.

Orange Bahco folding saws are under $22 (Canadian) in Canada. I have 4 of them. good affordable saws. I hesitate to name the store name because i don't want to get penalized by any mods. Place name rhymes with "neck", lol.

I have a pocket boy 170 and wouldn't want anything smaller.

I have a Katanah Boy and wouldn't want anything bigger :D (19.8")

The other is a Silky SUGOI 360. Both exceptionally nice saws BUT very much off the topic of this thread.
Just sharing for general info.

Another vote for the Gomboy! I also have a pocket boy I use on occasion, but get the Gomboy with the medium teeth and you'll be set.

I picked up a 7 inch corona as it was available locally. I did find an online store with decent prices on Silkies, might get one still. The corona chops well but I was not too impressed with the overall build quality, I could get a similar sized silky for only 5 bucks more.

I have a Silky Pocket Boy 130. Does what I need to do. Have larger saws at home for larger chores.

Another vote for a Gomboy. (270 w/ med. teeth here)

It out cut the 10" Corona, a modified wood handled Fiskars and my DIY 21" buck saw.
