Got a cell phone yesterday at work and am thinking of making my own leather case for it. I work at a large Electronics place and get a nice discount on cases but thought it would be fun to make my own.

Been reading G2's thread on making folder sheaths and figure I'll mostly follow that for the most part. Thinking of doing a modified version of his Vertical sheath. Instead of the strip that sticks out of the top becoming the belt loop, make that a flap that holds the phone in and put an X shapped belt loop for Vertical and Horizantal carry. Leatherman made a sheath for me with that type of belt loop and its been working for me for 4 years. :) (pending permission to use the loop)

Or I might do something totally different.. I think I've only got 8-9oz leather to work with so I need to figure out something that will work with it. If you guys have any tips, tricks or ideas feel free to post them here. I hope to have some photos this afternoon or evening even if it's of a crazy mess I made. LOL!! Thanks,

Heber

Spent part of the afternoon playing with a few ideas on how to build a cell phone pouch. The design I went with didn't turn out the way I wanted it to and it looks bad to me.:o:o But I thought I'd show pictures anyways and here they are:

As soon as I'm able to get some more thread I'll make a molded foldover pouch which I think should turn out much better. Thanks for checking out my screw up. :o LOL!!

Not bad at all Heber. :)

We all make stuff that doesnt satisfy, its the only way we improve our skills.

Thanks Dwayne! The fit is good and it's really strong but the finish just isn't what I wanted. Some how the leather kept moving while drilling the holes for the stitching so I have to redo some of them. Then the edges just didn't get smooth. Must have been over zealious with the exacto knife while trimming. Lesson learned.

I like the skeletal nature of that design, it allows you to hear the phone when its ringing. :)

Although the relevance is waining as those blue tooth things are gaining in popularity. I see people talking to themselves everywhere now! :p

It's a Tandy kit design, but I used my own leather....you're right, nothing funnier than a blue-tooth user talking with her hands while driving!
