Thinking of ordered a 301, but how's the tension?

Before I buy the 301, can anyone who owns a model 301 of today describe the back springs or pull on the blades? Weak, medium, or strong?

The last two Buck 301 knives I bought (a 2010 & a 2012) had adequate pull and snap. What is "right" is an individual preference - I like a little more than Buck currently provides but it is plenty to do the job (blades snap open and closed - no pushing required). A guy with a little arthritis would love the current Buck walk and talk. OH

i have very little arthritis, but sometimes I wake up and the fingers are a little sore. Maybe this will work for me. If I don't go with the 301, what would be another direction to take for a same size stockman? Should I grab an older 301?

The new (current) Buck 301 knives have some nice features; each blade is on it's own spring - no need for crinking, thus no blade rub. Also Buck is the only company (that I am aware of) that positions the Sheepfoot blade on the opposite side from the Clip (main) blade - a very convenient design. The current Buck's are 100% stainless steel in all metal parts - no rust or discoloration of the springs, liners, etc. The old ones are great too, as made by Camillus, but don't have the same features (they are traditional Stockman patterns). Get both! OH

Thanks for the help OH. I 'm going to pick up the latest 301 but on a waiting list. I found a great price and looks like alot of people found it also. No hurry though.

Of course you can still get the club 301 with ivory micarta and BG-42 steel, but it will probably have to be one without the logo.

How much are the one's without the logo? I saw one on the bay with the logo for 250.

I'm pretty sure the price, including shipping, is a fraction of what you mentioned.

Those ones mentioned are club knives, but I am not sure where the 'no mentioning sellers' rule lays here. So just to be safe lets just say if anyone wants any details about the BG-42 club 301 contact BCCI club president John Foresman at Buckcustom@aol.com. He can give out the details and we here will try to toe the line on the rules as much as possible while using common sense.

Sorry about that, 300. I must have quit thinking for a minute. It is slightly modified now.
