Of late Phill has been on my mind. I can't help but look around at his stuff that is up for sale.

I came across this blade that belongs to another forum member that at one time belonged to another forum member and a few well known dealers.

I have seen it around over the years and always liked it. But I was always to late.

Both prior owners have told me that it is a very good example of classic Phill.

From what I can gather it is 15 or so years old and still in mint condition.

Well with Blade this close my plan was to sell blades not buy blades but when I saw this pop up I grabbed it and should recieve it in time for my trip to Blade

It is a 1/4 inch Strong Boy with an unusual handle wrap

I am pleased to give this vintage piece of PH a new home

That's very cool Joe. It'll be more than "just" a knife to you, more like a constant reminder of Phill's friendship. I'm glad you got it.

Great example, Joe, I know how you feel about Phill. Congtratulations.

Nice snag, Joe, cool to see it went to a good home !
I've always liked the look of his Strong Boys and kwaikens.
Congrats !

That was one of my favorites! (from the guy you bought it from!!! :)) I'm glad it has most likely found a permanent home!!!

Joe:

That's a really great one. The handle wrap provides a quick indexing for your hand and looks awesome. Keeps that "trigger finger" away from that wicked edge. We all have knives that we wish we had never sold and that is another one of mine. Classic Phill and there will be no more.

Thanks Pete

Always a pleasure

I will keep this one and all of the ones I have for sure

Thanks

Glad you got the knife in time and are as impressed with it as I always was. It was the best Strongboy I ever owned, and I am glad you will be wearing it in honor of Phill. Enjoy, and remember the great man who made it every time you hold it.

Nothing like a strong boy and that sure is an interesting and unique handle wrap ! I'm sure Phill is glad that it is in your possession. R.I.P. Blade brother.

Joe, did you attend the memorial today? I was there, and it was the most sincere and moving tribute to anyone I have ever witnessed. The church was virtually full, and so many folks including myself felt moved to speak about Phill and tell stories of how much he touched their lives. There was not a dry eye in the place, and that included military, cops, and martial arts fighters alike. Pat was so strong and poised, and has found that Phill's passing has brought their family even closer. She has lots of support, and should be fine. Phil jr. seemed to be taking it the worst. He seemed crushed and had very little to say. I wish him the best, and hope he will continue to do special projects for the military. I hope he will add his own twist to the knives, and step away from his father's legacy a little with his own designs and logo. After all, there was only one Phill Hartsfield. Let me know if you would like a copy of the memorial service program.

The world was definitely a better place with Phill Hartsfield in it. I was thinking the same thing with regards to Phill, Jr. Some new designs, new logo, but same grinding and heat treat techniques that he learned from his father. Could be some very exciting knives yet to come.
