Thinking of pre-ordering a Waki

Hi all,

This is my first post here, and while I've done some searching, I just wanted to confirm some things before shelling out my own Swamp Rat Waki.

1. I'm pretty sure I want a white-bladed, black/tan G10-handled waki. The other option I was considering was the same blade with a black/red G10 handle. What do you guys think? Are there any photos of those configurations so I can compare the two?

2. Will there ever be a satin option? Given the choice, I would love a highly polished blade with the handle choice(s) as above. I'll wait if a shiny Waki is coming. Additionally, if given the choice, I think I'd like a black/white or black/purple G10 handle. Those are probably unlikely...

Satin will cost you $100 or more than the current offering, and you never know when current offerings will be pulled from the shelf. I would suggest you grab your dream knife from the shop now, before you're forced to hunt on the exchange down the road. Good luck!

If I were to do it again I would go Black/Tan G10 instead of Red/Black. But as with any purely cosmetic decision it all comes down to personal preference. A pic of mine is at the top of the last page of the pictures sticky.

Regarding the satin WAKI, SR-101 isn't the most rust resistant steel. If you seek a satin finished sword that has excellent rust resistance, go for a Busse AK-47 or Ruck. This might not be a concern if you are obsessive compulsive about your knives! I take mine out at least once a week just to oil & fondle them. If you keep your blades oiled weekly, I would imagine you will never have a rust problem. I got in on the coated WAKI so I would never have to worry about her rusting on me. Just my two cents!!!

I would say get them asap while the pre-order is still open. I was so sad the first time they closed the waki pre-order several months ago. I ended up buying one on ebay for more than 500 bucks.
