So I have about 30 knives in my collection and am considering selling them to fund other brands I’m focusing on. Ive had most of them awhile I just don’t carry them much anymore. Anybody else ever sell off their collection?

I just purged like 20 knives from a few manufacturers to focus my collection on fewer knives I enjoy more.

If any of those knives are balisongs pm me :D

I am going to sell off a few knives that don’t get used a lot in the near future. A couple each of Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. I wouldn’t sell off all of a brand to fund another unless I really hated the brand I was thinking about selling or couldn’t live without the other brand.

Personally, I will never sell my Bugout or Griptillian. Both are the the basic grivory models and just great knives for the $$$ IMO.

I've thought about it a couple times but can't yet bring myself to do it. I've never gotten too big of a collection as most of the folks around here. Don't think I've ever surpassed more than 50 knives total.

Dibs on an M4 Rift if ya got it!!

I sold most of my collection off about four years ago. Don't regret it.

I wouldn't sell or buy a knife based solely on brand. If you liked them and now have too many then sell them and redirect the money into something else.

Sold/traded my 90's Benchmades for a couple of new models. Times are changing.
Looking at the 390, 590, and the 4400.

If you've got a 940 user, I'd be thrilled to try it out. Hate to buy a new knife only to leave it in a drawer or resell it.

I traded away a ton of knives I was never carrying at the start of the summer to focus more on a smaller higher end collection. Most ofnthe knives that went were Spydercos. At one point in time I had like 30 Spydie knives. Now I am drowning in titanium framelocks.

I am not unhappy with the change though sometimes I feel kind of weird not having 50 knives at the ready that never get used. I still have a few knives that I derive great pleasure from owning but rarely or never carry.

Just never sell anything you are unsure you want to part with. You will just end up buying it back. For example you may have knife A that you quite like but really want to sell or trade it for knife B. Sometimes knife B can appear to be extremely appealing but when you get it in hand for whatever reason it wasn’t what you thought it would be. You’ll likely just end up buying knife A again.

There’s no reason you have to sell all your BMs. Hold onto the ones you like. If you feel unsure about it you might end up regretting it.

After several years of collecting I have a much better idea what I want in a knife. I am now much happier having multiples of a knife I love than several knives I like but am just ok with. As an example I must have owned atleast 17 Emerson knives and at one point wanted to own this model, and that model, and this one too.

Turns out the only one I really carried was the cqc7s. I have probably owned atleast 7-8 variations of the cqc7 and now that I know it is the ideal Emerson knife for me I don’t have as much urge to own their whole catalog.

I’m a big believer in carrying my knives and enjoying them. You only live once.

I also thin the herd from time to time also. I have a couple Ritters and a D2 710 with custom scales that are going on the chopping block soon. Last year I also sold off most of my CRKs with the exception of a large and small Insingo.

I've gone from bigger knives to almost all gents folders with a couple of salt proof and hard use models. I don't focus on any one brand.
