any suggestions for a thin folder with thumb hole, 3 in or less blade, preferably flat grind, clip at very end for deep carry. I really like the RAT folder but was a little big for my everyday carry. Steel and handle material are secondary to the physical needs as above.

Spyderco Calypso Jr. would be my first choice. Delica maybe as a second.

I'd say a Spyderco Calypso Jr. as well, plus you'd get to try out the new wonder steel ZDP-189 if you get one of the new ones. Even if you get an older one in VG-10 you'll be happy :)

The Delica sticks out a bit too much to be considered deep carry, and it's not flat-ground. Another vote for the Calypso Jr.

It's not a round hole, but the Buck Mayo is a pretty thin knife, and carries nicely in the pocket.

It's not the usual, but would you be interested in a stainless steel Cricket? VERY thin, clip way up at the end, 2" deeply recurved blade.

If you can live without the hole opener the Dozier Designed Ka-Bar Thorn sits nice and deep in the pocket. For that matter so does my BenchMade Snody Designed 420 Resistor. On the Resistor, it can be Waved for easy opening too. I have done a couple of those now and they are sweet sweet sweet easy openers that way. Who needs a hole? On mine I took the thumb studs off because the Wave is easier to use for the opening manually and easier to find with the thumb so they are not even needed since the Wave can be used to automatically open the blade for you as you pull the knife out of your pocket or double as a thumb grip to open the blade. The Wave is almost a hole. :D

flat grind, deep pocket carry,3inch blade (a tad under) were all part of the design requirements.

The new Calypso Jr seems really nice !
Fallkniven U2 is a good choice too,it's my current EDC and i'm reqlly pleased with...
Don't know if ZDP189 hold an edge better than SGPS but SGPS is really a winner...

I too would suggest the Buck/Mayo. It is very thin and sits very low in the pocket.

The Kopa rides very low in the pocket, and has a definite higher level of class than the plastic Calypso Jr (but costs more).

William Henrys ride very low, as does the Chris Reeve Mnandi (with a very discreet pen-like appearance), but we're talking a much higher price level here.

Some of the lowest-riding clips are the deep carry clips offered by knifekits.com (and Darrel Ralph's custom and middtech folders). These fold the clip over completely, so that there's none of the butt of the knife sticking out. All you see is the clip. But of course, if you're not buying a new knife, or making a kit, an existing knife might require modification.

If your willing to live without the hole. Benchmade 940 series is thin and carries nice and deep. You really don't even need a hole or studs the way that baby just flicks open. Good luck.

About the Buck/Mayo, it's hallow ground, but it's a real smooth hollow grind, and a real slicer, so I guess I would have to say it's a hallow grind for flat grind lovers, such as myself.
