Thinning a BA-E?

Would it be difficult or impossible to substantially and entirely (tang and all) thin a knife? I am talking about having a pro do it, not doing it myself.

Specifically, I want a thin BA-E. I love the E-handle, I love the BA-E blade size and shape, but it is just too darn thick.

And no, I would never try to invoke the Busse warranty after making such modifications to the blade.

I would think it could be done no problem. I forget the name of the poster from Europe who made his SFNO "saber" by grinding off a bit, but I'm sure that technique would work for your purposes as well.

Ban can do it Mike. He did an AD for me, blade and tang, and he did a great job.

Another one in the room that could do it is Horton. Several other knife makers will mod Busse's as well.

After pulling it out of storage and fondling it awhile, I just couldn't do it! I'm keeping it original and pristine. If I want to use a Busse of this appox. size for hunting, I'll just use an ABA of some kind.

Use one of you SHBA's Mike.

Just get a ZTNO Bro!!!

Never mind I should have read that closer. Your doing the BA-e not the NO-e. Sorry...

So ya want a thinner BA-E ?????????? I'll trade you this Rob Lay Hunter,,,,,,, aprox. the same size as the BA-E ,,,,,,,, a lil thinner with a custom sheath by the same maker . It's real scary sharp ,,,,,, spalted burl handle with elk horn spacer. The fit and finish of this canadian hand made hunter is absolutely superb.

This user drinks some more scotch and hopes that since MikeH was EVEN concidering thinning a BA-E , he might think this was a fair trade :D :D :D ,,,,,, I'll even pay both our shipping!!!!!!!! ,,,,,,, lmao

Ronnie, your magnanimous offer is so overwhelming that I would not even consider taking advantage of your generosity.

Actually,,,,that Rob Lay is a high end well made custom,,,,,and to be honest, I would'nt trade it. Just as I would'nt modify an ole classic BA-E,,,,I'd keep it safe and purchase another thinner blade. Of course thats just me. Do whatever makes YOU happy,, ,, and ta hell with me,,,,lol :D
