I've been selling off and thinning out my GEC collection but couldn't resist these two knives (#73 Scout linerlock and #72 Mini-Hunter lockback). I like the #73 Scout linerlock so much that I bought two of them. The ebony covers are what pushed me over the edge on both of these knives.

My wife and daughter gave me a #73 scout two-blade in ebony and it hasn't left my pocket. I've grown really attached to it. The ebony is just sooooo right!

Nice pair. The 73 is my favorite pattern, and I have to struggle with the decision each day - ebony or cocobolo?

I love the 73 pattern, im so glad GEC decided to do another run of them, and i was lucky enough to grab one.

I guess i wanna say sorry that you gotta get rid of your knives, but in a way, youve now eliminated all the fluff and narrowed it down to your favorite knives. That's a plus in my book

Stu, for a single blade knife, their drop point is my favorite GEC blade shape. Just so useful and elegant at the same time.

Jeff pretty much summed it up Stu. I like the long sweep of the belly. I used a Schrade Fire & Ice Trapper, which was built on the #73 frame) to clean a few rabbits not long ago and the GEC #5 Drop Point/Skinner blade did a great job. That blade is all business.

As an aside, the #73 fills my hand just that little bit better because of the width (3/32") of the linerlock that runs from the butt of the knife to the lock-up point. Not a whole lot but noticeable between the #73 and #72.

I am very tempted to sell off another for one of those LL's. You guys summed it up already and would pair up well with my 55. I am really enjoying the LL on my Houndstooth and it makes since on the 73.

Great point about the thickness ED! My tastes change but the slightly added girth of the LL gives a single blade just the right feel(the ones I have tried so far anyway). Not too skinny but nowhere near as bulky as a jack. Plus the added safety for a working knife is just plain nice in my opinion. Enjoy those beauties my friend.
