Small Regular:
It's been not quite a month now since I got it. Now it's "at home" for me. When the other formites said it takes breaking in I didn't get the full impact of this. Other knives "break in", in about 100 ope/clo cycles. It took a whole lot more than that. This reminds me of the old days when you got a new car you had to run it slowly for a while, then take back to the dealer for the "break in" oil to be changed, before you could run it normaly.
After a clean and lube it works beautifily.
Well, I think of the Seb as a precision machine and I appreciate it much more now. Good job.

Gull-Wing,

Glad to hear the CRK Sebenza is "at home" now. I just received my first CRK knife today. It is a small regular Sebenza. My first impression is that it's not fancy, but it is clean, simple, strong, well-made and elagant. I like those charateristics.

When it arrived this morning I took my Al Mar Mini-SERE out of my pocket (not using the clip since a knife the size of the Mini-SERE or Sebenza doesn't fit with expectations in my work place) and dropped the Sebenza in.... what a difference. I really like the Mini-SERE, but I didn't realize how heavy it sits in the bottom of my pocket under my wallet in the FL pocket. The Sebbie is so much lighter.

My first impression is :D

:)

The last Sebbie I bought took several hundred cycles to break in. It now functions as my older ones do. Has anyone else had this experience with the Sebbies from the last 2 or 3 years? The ones I bought 5 or 6 years ago came perfect out of the box, there was no need for a break in period. Any similar experiences? I wonder if they are made tighter now.

I think the difference is the pocket clip is different now, puts more pressure on the lockbar then before.

Also, I reccomend the flitz and steel wool polish of the washers, blade tang, inside of handles, makes the break in period more like 2 days.

I didn't polish the blade tang, but I will next time, I have a felt belt for my Dremel belt sander. Will do! It is incredible how easy it is to open and close now, what a difference.

Steel Wool on washers? I thought that was a no, no?

Clip: I did spring the clip back some, so it just makes contact with the scale when closed. This is the best factory clip I have seen. With lots of factory clips, I replace with my own design. They are usually too thick and heavily sprung. What do you expect, it's a CRK.

The sides of the tang, where the washers ride, not where the lock hits.

I used 0000 steel wool, the finest, and just enough force to polish.
