Does any of this look familiar? I'd like to see someone trying to put a daisy on the end of my khuk...

When the shooting war starts in Iraq, radical anti-war activists say they plan to move from peaceful protests to riots, destruction of property and other means to "disrupt the normal flow of life" in America. That's the threat from organizer Leslie Cagan, long-time Communist head of the United for Peace and Justice Coalition.

Demonstrations are planned for DC, NY, SF and other major cities. A group called Direct Action to Stop the War, based in SF, is planning to block streets and highways in an effort to bring the war home to Americans, according to G2 Bulletin.

Similar plans are being made in Great Britain ? the other major ally in the likely conflict with Iraq.

"We want people to walk out of their offices, strike, sit down, occupy buildings, demonstrate, take direct action and do whatever they think fit the moment war starts," said the Stop the War Coalition. "We want to completely close down Whitehall and prevent the MoD going to work."

"We think the next phase will see an escalation of tactics," said International Answer, an umbrella organization dominated by the Communist Workers World Party. "We're not saying the next phase will or will not be violent. But you'll see more people doing sit-ins and other forms of civil disobedience."

Looks like a lot of people are going to wind up in jail. I hope they don't get out into some of the neighborhoods. I plan on being like the copperhead. I ain't going to bother anybody and you can almost step on me but, don't. They won't like my style of defense. I never did care much for a commy anyway.

My guess is it's going to be all over before anything here can get organized. I "hope" this country has learned that it doesn't pay to drag things out -- advising, fighting up to some imaginary line, don't do this, don't do that -- if you can't find a target drop your bombs on a water buffalo -- that kind of philosophy just doesn't get it. And, sadly, if George Sr. had taken off the head of the serpent rather than a few legs we wouldn't be facing this mess today.

Well Uncle Bill that's what happens when you have a coalition. You have to abide by the agreed on game plan. If we go this one alone we will determine when it has ended. Not a coalition. Running a war by commitee is simply silly.

No wonder the country is in a mess. The government is run by committees.

What we need is one man to make all the decisions with nobody allowed to question him or offer alternatives.

Wait a minute! We used to have a guy like that in charge. His name was King George.

We've seen Football and Basketball championship riots (and the lack thereof)christian riots, anti christian riots, riots for Green peace, riots against the New World Order and global industrialization, blaa blaa blaa; it seems many a peaceful cause ends up with a riot.
..but to deliberately plan on chaos and damage!!??

Well there is somebody like that, but his name is Saddam and we are going to have to kick his ass. Like we did with that King George fella.

Well, King George was not any where near as bad as Saddam, and we had a revolution over that. I think we can afford a roach killing gratis for the Iraqi people ( who will thank us)

If Idi Amin were alive and had the Bomb, or intercontinental missle developement with biologicals, what would we be saying now? Pass a Resolution?

All I can say to those stupid riots is:barf: There are plenty of people who die in this world trying to have a peaceful protest, and these morons want to do this crap:mad:

I can think of a way to end such protests without anyone but complete idiots getting road rash or getting more than a few arms or legs hurt or broke.

Just borrow some mining equipment, one good sized Cat Dozer with a big bucket on the front and a line of Peterbuilts with trailers to haul them off for processing. Don't think you'd have to fill up more that a couple trailers before the protesters decided their loyalty to the cause required them to be elsewhere.

Of course I also remember the riots 30 years back at Fresno State proceeding triumphantly down Shaw and then turning onto the campus where they planned to totally trash the expensive new computer buiding and all the equipment. Right up til they spotted some of the other students watching the parade from in front of the computer building. The other students referred to them as "Aggies", and they were out in force just leaning on their pitchforks and shovels. For some reason the festivities kind of petered out at that point.

And did I mention that unlike other counties in Californication, Fresno continues to issue CCW permits? The FSU President was out trying to reason with some dissidents when a sudden gust blew his coat open accidentally flashing his pistol. Talk about beating him up stopped shortly after the incident. They were willing to tackle his bodyguards, but what do you do when the protectee has made up his mind to raise the stakes?

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
But if I here one word about white house tapes or a certain hotel I'll freak. It's almost like a trip back to 68!!!!

I'm with Pappy. People have the right to free speech, because my actions and dignity are not degraded by their scorn. They are free to express themselves, but the moment they physically assault or hinder me the stakes change.
