A liner-lock. This one is sort of a prototype of a prototype, just stuff I had laying around the shop- blade is 1095, liners are stainless steel and the scales are cocobolo. the screws I just had lying around the shop and the tap was left over from when I put together some folders years back

Thanks for posting these, Ben! For some reason I can't post pics here... I am thinking about doing a short run of these in titanium, S30V and synthetic scales...

That is a cool design! I love the handle. Blade looks like it could be useful or nasty, or both! I like the 1095/cocobolo combination over the S30V one :)

Thanks- I installed new Ti liners as an experiment which worked a treat. Then I made a thicker ATS34 blade for it- Bleh... Don't like that at all. I'll put the old blade back.

I'm sure the tactical version will look great too, but seeing a big carbon-steel and wood custom folder meant for business is rare these days.

That's a pretty unique looking folder. I like it. Tinker, do you have a web page? Can you post some specs? What would something like that run?

Here's some specs-
Overall length (open) is 8-11/16 inches and 5-7/16 inches closed
Blade is approx. 3-3/4 inches long and approx 1 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick
Handle is 11/16 inches thick
Liners are approx 1/16 inch thick Ti

No web page yet- new one was supposed to be up last November... You can see some of my work at Bladeart.com

Something like this with these materials would run about $300. If I go with a 'sexier' steel and synthetic scales it would run more- add a belt-clip and it could run $450 or more depending on the details.

Rarer than perhaps it should be, I think, but I am afraid that you and I are very much in the minority on this...
:D

Anytime you want a good, workman-like steel and wood knife I'm happy to oblige- I like 'em!

Tinker,

Good to hear from you. Still hanging out at the Sword Forum?

That is just another ordinary piece of working coming out of your shop. This of course means it is an outstanding job.

Keep up the good work.
