This 68 is MINE!

I have been drooling over the White Owls for a while. We had a customer return one and complain because the purple wasn't purple enough. I liked it, so into my pocket it went.

Today I made it mine. I took the blade etch off, sharpened the blades, flushed it out, oiled it up, put it in a pocketslip and stuck it in my pocket. This will be the last pretty picture of it. :)

Looks good to me! I've been eyeballing the 68s for awhile myself. I'm going to have to come in and pick up a pony soon!

Good looking knife Derrick, I cannot believe someone would return a knife for that reason - did they use it at all or carry it?
From what I can see in the photos the edge on that Sheepsfoot looks wicked!, did you re-profile this - or was it like this from factory?

I reprofiled it. :) Now it is convex and splits hairs easily.

They just sent it back. I needed an excuse to get it past Wendy!!

Nice Knife Derek! But it's not a White Owl. That would be the 68 Buckaroo Stockman.

Good job on the edge tweaking.

We don't really see much of this #68 variation. It's a shame because its rather tasty looking.

The knife is very nice but I like that black pocket sheath. How does one go about finding one?

That one is actually a prototype. They may be available in the future...still contemplating. :)

"If you build it...they will buy"! ;)
I'll be the first customer. Been looking for a quality mid sized slip for a while. :)

I love carrying my knives in a pocketslip because the scratches from my keys and stuff on the knife drive me nuts and the danger of scratching my phone with the knife makes me just as nuts. Once I have used a pocketslip for a few months, they take a beautiful, darker color. I can't wait to see what happens with this black one. :)

So your needing some 3rd party field testing for that prototype right.... :) I've been wanting to try out the Buckaroo I'm always surprised it isn't really ever heard about or recommended on here as it seems like it would be an excellent stockman.

Very nice. Beat me to it. :).

I'm in too if you need this field tested. I'll take it on my safari and put it through some testing.

So, do you think you might get one, some day? A White Owl?

:D

Beautiful knife.

I like that sentiment.

Agreed, including that I'm now newly curious about how it compares with the #66 Calf Roper, especially with how high the sheepsfoot blade rides when closed, crimping, etc.

Do the second and third blades share a spring on both models, with the primary clip having its own?

(I found this thread, but no detailed comparisons or side-by-sides.)

Regarding the pocket slip/sheath: is the color -- black!-- the only difference between this one and the regular offering, or are there additional tweaks?

I've been wondering about the buckaroo a lot as well, thanks for sharing and I hope we see lots more :p

Edit: last time i saw a thread about the buckaroo I believe we found out it's actually classed as a cattle knife, kinda cool :)

The Buckaroo will be the knife I order if I ever decide to pick up something with 3 blades instead of one or two. For now, I'm all over the Pony Jacks.

When I do venture into the 3 blade realm, I think I'll be getting the UN-X-LD Northfield Buckaroo with Forest Green Jigged covers! For some reason, this particular one sings to me.

Thanks for sharing, Derrick!

Very nice knife!

It does not look purple, but it DOES look beautiful!

Congratulations, this knife found you!

best
