I found this anchor knife at an affordable price and free shipping so decided -why not? It only cost about the same as a Rough Rider and if the F&F were similar to that, I won't be too disappointed. Shipping was pretty fast, so no complains there. The website hints at French origins but I knew this was a Chinese product rebranded for them.

The moment I got it in hand I knew that this was not equal to RR standards.
Pluses
-Blade came sharp enough to slice paper
-Anchor was made of metal and embedded into the cover
-Overall knife was hefty as a work knife should be
-Blade was fairly centered, maybe a smidgen off
-Blade was snappy but with a light pull

Minuses
-Gaps in the backspring and between the bolster and cover
-Rough spots in the overall finishing
-Bail was made of thin metal

Overall, I guess this was a decent enough knife for the price paid although I really do not know if it'll go the distance as a work knife.
I've also ordered an Otter-Messer Anchor knife which should arrive sometime next week. Hopefully then I'll see and feel how a true Solingen made anchor knife should be.

This anchor sinks!

I have never heard of an anchor that didn't sink.
Not a bad knife if you paid little for it.

It didn't cost me much. Guess I expected too much from the pictures on the website. It just doesn't float my boat :p

Is the blade stainless or carbon? If I were you, I'd cut off that bail, maybe take some ultra fine sandpaper and clean up the inside edges of the liners. Then I'd use the heck out of it :D

Well I think you will love the Otter-Messer Anchor knife when you get it. Please post some pic's when it arrives. I might pull the trigger on one of those. :D

The blade is stainless and I might just do what you suggested and cut the bail off. It's of no use now and just gets in the way.

I do intend to "use the heck out of it" - well as much as I can anyway. It'll probably be my toolbox/loaner knife plus do everything else that I won't risk doing with my GECs and Cases.
