I bought this knife to flip so as to finance other knives and found out EBay won't allow it to be listed because of the ivory on the handle.

As I understand the ebay rules, the ban only applies to elephant ivory so if yours is mastadon, I think you may be ok to sell.

There are at least three at my last count on Ebay with fossil ivory scales. They just don't use the word ivory, and only use the word fossil to describe it. There are others with mammoth or mastadon tooth scales that are described the same way.

There are a bunch of different "brands" of knives listed with "fossil bark" handles which is what yours is. That must be the way to avoid calling them ivory.

I just searched eBay for 'fossil mammoth', and seeing 138 results listed. It's a words game. I'd avoid using terms like 'ivory' or 'tusk' (although I do see at least one 'tusk' listing).

Its hit or miss on that site.

They ended a listing on me once for a Mammoth tooth 110. I had to contact them to explain what it was. No, I didnt get my listing fees back either. :D

I'm certain others have done far worse in listings on the bay and not even an eye brow was raised! DM

Damasque and Ivory on a tackty-cool knife......

Like putting a mink stole and a diamond necklace on a pit bull.

:D

I've still got it. After vacation and spending 2500.00 on new LR furniture, I gotta curtail my spending for a little while. That includes BCCI and BF memberships.
