Isn't it crazy how your knife perspective changes?

For the past 3 months I've almost exclusively carried a mini Ritter. Before that it was mini Mel Pardue. I switched to the Ritter because I loved the fatness of the blade. After a month I was thinking, you know the blade isn't actually even that wide.

So recently I picked up a chubby little Böker Nano and I've been carrying that for a week without looking at my Ritter. Well last night I pick up my Ritter and flick it open, I swear to God it was 12 feet long. :screwy:
Now I'm thinking about carrying a sicilian toothpick so my Ritter will shrink back down.

Is my brain destroyed from carrying a Böker Nano?! Or is this perspective change common among edc rotations:confused:

I get that also. If I carry a 3" blade awhile, 3.5" and above knives in general seem huge. If I carry a 3.5-4" blade for awhile, a 3" blade seems tiny.

I was carrying a few 4 inch bladed knives then went down to a 3.5 inch sog aegis and then went down to a 3.1 inch blade and now ima start my voyager again and it feels huge.

Yep, 50% more blade is a big jump. Everything under 3.5in. does seem small to me besides a Vic SAK, so used to them since very early childhood that they are just different.

Tip work is very different if you spend a bit of time with an inch or more shorter blade then go back up.

It happens! I swear when I switch that I remeber it being smaller. It seems like you said a huge sword. Then when I go back down it's like a I remember it being alot bigger! Especially when I go on a trip and go back home to switch! a week does alot!
