I've mentioned before that I am not a huge fan of bocote .... unless, of course, it has an unusual, non-typical grain. This small basket weave with outstanding grain and coloring in the bocote certainly fits the bill and is definitely a keeper!

Nice! I share your opinion of bocote. I used to have a very nice unusual grain damascus mnandi that I sold off in a moment of lunacy. I'd love to have it back. The straight grain bocote doesn't do much for me.

Love that knotty grain on the reverse of that Mnandi!!! Very nice!!!

WOW d.r.h., that is one beautiful sebenza. Bocote is my favorite CRK wood by far with the right grain. I like both light and dark woods, and this gives you a little bit of both. I recently sold a beautiful small damascus bocote 21. I loved the bocote, but ladder damascus is just not for me. I like raindrop and some of the others, I just like ladder the least is all. This basketweave damascus is pretty sweet. I had a mnandi in basketweave damascus years ago in cocobolo and it was pretty sweet. Congrats on the great score.

The Bocote on that Sebenza looks like bit of Mammoth bark.

Dennis!
One of these days you have to show me the secret to find this beautiful grain.
Great as usual

Wow. I feel the same way about the wood. But wow that's nice!

Thanks for all the great comments. I just had a short conversation with Travis (I am sure you know where I got this beauty!). One of the things I mentioned is that he always seems to get some of the best looking CRKs I've seen. Don't know how he does it ..... just want it to continue!!

I have had several members message me over the years and tell me that they feel that bocote wood, with a certain grain looks like a "poor man's ivory" and I agree....!!!
