This is a customer designed Bowie.
It has a 9"X1 1/2"X3/16 inch forged 5160 Blade that is flat ground half way up and then has a chisel grind on the back edge. The blade is hand rubbed to 2000 grit then burnished with notebook paper by hand, then a quick pass on the buffer after sharpening. There is vine filework down the spine and riccasso of the blade along with all the way around the Nickel silver guard that is 3 inchs long. The handle is 5 1/2 inches long with elk stag scales and nickel silver bolsters front and rear over a framed handle,it has finger grooves on the name side only for the thumb and first finger to rest in.The pins are all stainless and a brass and stainless mosaic pin in the center of the handle. This knife balances dead on the guard also.
Any and all comments welcome please.
Donna said she will model for this tonight as I finished it up to late last night,so a picture with her will come tonight.

Liked the Bowie. Even the unusual design of the false edge.
How about a pic of the file work on the back of the blade?
Lynn

Thanks for the kind words everybody..That back edge was a pain to get ground in,it kind of curves in at the point to keep the edge straigt since it had to follow the flat grind on the back side of the blade,But I did it and kept the edge straight, what a way to test your grinding skills;)

I don't know what that black line is by the bolster as it isn't on the Knife? guess I got something on it when I took the picture:(
At least it is only in the picture..

Bruce, the black lines around the slabs matches the ones around your finger nails really well. NICE JOB!!!!:p :p :p :D :D

Bruce I like it alot. Those double bolsters and framed handle get my attention. What a crowd stopper! I may have to drag out some of my elk slabs. I didnt know they could look that good. The didtal taper is very cool. This is one of those after midnight knives. Right? They are always the best kind.

That is a beautiful knife. I can only dream of making something that good.

Hey Bruce!
You really know how to make one's day! I'm not feeling 100% today; took the day off from work; mopin' around the house; didn't know whether to take a couple aspirins & lay down or check out the computer. Real glad I went to the computer! Sorry she was such a rough one to complete but looks like you grabbed her by the horns & pinned her! :D Your experience & input to my shabby drawing shows what a fantastic craftsman can do! Thanks a million! Can't wait to hold this beauty in my hands!
By the way, did I say THANK YOU! :) :)
Best wishes for your journey coming up - drive safe!
Gary

Bruce, another great piece of cutlery! Your execution is flawless as uslual. But you should wait till that beautiful girl is available to do the photos. Terry

Bruce,
I should have been in bed by now but I had to take one last look! Love that filework! I'm in heaven!:D If Donna is gonna model that one, please don't let her get too close to that back edge! If she cut herself, I'd feel rotten! Thanks again for a great day! We'll have to do it again!:) Take care & good night!

Bruce that is awsome! I love that finish! I've never though of trying notebook paper, guiess I'll have to give it a try.
That elk looks increadable too.

Great Knife
You do fantastic things with that vine work. Thanks for the tutorial on your site I had a look at it a few weeks ago. Looks like your cutomer picked the right man for the job.

I will confess I tried to do the file work and started at the wrong end. It looks like my vine is going backwards not forward to the tip.
I'll get it right next time.

After visiting Bruce's website several times & viewing his work on Blade Forums, I knew I "...picked the right man for the job." I submitted a drawing & request to Bruce & he 'corrected' some of my ideas with his experience & knowledge & I let him go for it! I too would say he did a real fine job! His vine filework has me all excited - can't wait to see it 'in the flesh'! Bruce is a real pleasure to work with - good communication & lets you know what will yield a better piece of cutting steel!
