This Buck family also made sharp things

Yeah my buddy and I were talking about collecting, watching our daughters soccer practice. He knows I collect Bucks and I found out he collects vintage straight razors. Later that night while I was trolling the bay he called and pointed me out to this item.

I searched the web but cant find any infor on a Wm. Buck, he was from OK which isnt too far from KS where Hoyt grew up. I wonder...........

I hope this isnt considered deal spotting, I just thought is was interesting and germain to the thread. If so, pull it with my apologies.

It isn't deal spotting if the item is sold already. :D

Howabout that, it was still active when I posted it. I didnt even look when it would expire. I was going to copy and photobucket the pics but I thought the write up was important cus I wasnt sure the pics would show name and location well enough. Ok I take it back:p

I see them buck tools at the swap meet sometimes... They always try to say that Buck knives made them... I just walk away.... :jerkit:

I really like seeing those old hand made tools, and the history behind them. Thanks Dave, cool thread.

I helped my son complete a playhouse for the grand kids. He needed to fit a door blank to the door casing and had no idea what to do. I told him to get himself a chisel. He bought a set of three Buck Brother's chisel's. To funny that this thread was started today!

I ran acroos it when I did a search online for "Charles B. Buck". That's the name on one of my older COA's and I was wondering, who the heck is that?

I didn't find Charles B, but I ran across the article.

Then, I recognised the signature on the COA. CJ! duhh. :o

There is also a Buck that is a relatively famous painter...at least in the watercolor painting world. One of his prints was sold through the Friends of the NRA. I have one of his prints and one of his original paintings. Luke Buck paints mainly scenes from Michigan, Indiana, and Florida.

Interesting thread about traditional American craftsmanship in any case. So much is being outsourced to China these days, it sometimes feels like the era of the American craftsman is over. I'm glad that Buck Knives is trying to "buck the tide", at least to some extent.
