Bought it new back in 9dot...81?I was playing with it and everyone knows the quality of these.A little big for pocket carry but I could get used to it.I just hate to get any scratches on it. I like the way a Case stockman resonates when you close it.What do you guys think? would you use it or store it?
Can't see the "for flesh only" on the photo.

You are right, It's beggin to be carried ..... :D
Thats a nice lookin Moore Muskrat too...

I want to get all the horn Mooremakers. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. I have always studied grinds and loved complex bevels and such, but the simplicity and shape of the Mooremakers are appealing. The newer Cases just don't look the same as this one. On one hand I say use it and enjoy it on the other I say keep it mint and just look at it once in a while.

Remember, you can't take it with you:)!! If you don't use it someone else probably will one day.

Your absolutely right.
This one was my first case. I think there's a dent in my leg where it sat in my pocket still.

I carried a mini copperlock for a while...

And now I've been carryinig this, and every time I put one of those others I own, this one finds its way back ten minutes later.WTF is wrong with me?:eek:the little Mooremaker stockman is sweet.I'm sort of interested now on how it will age. I hope horn stands up ok.I had to file the nail groove in the handle because I couldn't get to the nail nick. Prettied up the bolsters a bit because they were uneven with a liner, but it spiffed up well. This picture is before I gave it a final buff.

Here's another shot of the case.I wish I had a shot of the other side, the jigging is completely different. Has anyone seen that on their older Cases?

That's a 47 pattern case stockman. I have a bunch of that pattern from the 70's, and I like them - have used several. They are the best looking and best sized stockman case ever made IMO.

The only thing I don't like about them is for some reason they seem more prone to getting dirt/grit in the action than the square bolstered 92 stockman. But they are the perfect size. I carry one sometimes, but most of the time I will carry a square bolstered jack type knife like a trapper or mini trapper or jack - especially when I am working or in the woods where I'm liable to get it dirty.

I like the look of a knife when it's new too.

It's like a new car, we fussy around till the first scratch, then after that we drive, use and enjoy it.

Unless you have plans to leave it to someone after you are gone, I say use it and enjoy Your Knife and your life.

I have a 6332 from about the same time frame that has different colored handles, the jigging is the same but not the color,I figured someone had changed one,I got it cheap so I really didn't care.To me the 47 is a bit big for EDC,I like a clip on my EDC,I do have an 87 stockman that I carry most days,I like that size a little better,I do carry a couple of bigger Case and Camillus knives, usually in a back pocket if I'm out were I don't want a clip showing and sometimes I carry a 6254 in a sheath on my belt.To many knives,to few days in a week.

This one lands in my pocket once in a while. If I cut string with it I'm pushing it.I don't know why they don't make more knives with nickel silver liners. They really put a knife a step up.

navihawk, is that a 2 blade 47 pattern?

Nevermind I'm off to flea bay already.

Safequeens can be valuable...no doubt. but IMHO nothing makes a blade more valuable than the miles you log in with it as your companion, that's what makes a knife more than a knife it makes it a legacy you can pass down to future generations carrying with it charectar and stories of it's own that know bladesmith could mix into the steel...only you.

Stick it in your pocket and carry it for the next 20 years.
