These so called custom fit kydex sheathes for neck knives, how good are they for holding something in thats dangling from your neck . Do they work well and how long dose the retention usually last?

oh, you have no idea how nice they are

the way they work is by holding it in with pressure. enough force to keep the blade in place but not too much that the knife wont come out.

I like them alot & the cool thing with kydex is you can make a sheath for just about anything

as long as you dont bake your sheath the tension will never go away or fatigue

It all depends on who did the kydex, and what they used.

I've had great results with high quality kydex molded and made just right.

I've had bad results with cheap kydex that was overheated when molding and made poorly.
