this is the best knive forum I ever read. But I have to get away from it.Iv'e gotten alot of good advice, but this forum has caused me to spend alot of money.
Here are my Pros and Cons:

pros :1)have learned alot about quality knives
2)all of my EDC'S can now shave hair
3)my EDC'S now include a Kershaw scallion (my favorite)
a Kershaw rainbow chive (my gent)and a CRKT-M1 (my all
around muscle knife,hiking tacticle ect,ect)
4)info from this site helped me and made want to refinish
and old Parker damascus pocket knife.

Cons: 1)spending too much money on this hobby !!! in the past 10
months Iv'e bought (3)scallions,(2)rainbow chives
(1)Tekna micro knife (1)Tekna credit card knife
(1)Tekna hidden edge (black skeleton blade)
(1)CRKT-M1 combo. A percision sharpening Kit, A lansky
ultra fine sharpening stone.
2) I'm 95% sure I'm going to join the small Sebenza knife
crowd. After hearing all of you rave about them so much,
I think a small Sebbie with a rich wood inlay would do
the trick because its a little larger than my scallion
(my favorite EDC)and a little smaller than my CRK-M1
although I'm not gonna go the leather sheath road because
its not my style.but there goes another 400$.

3) I'm running out of storage room. My wife bought me a
dresser vallet where I keep my money clip, watches and
EDC's and I have no more room in it. as it is my M-1
sits on my computer desk (where I can play with it)

Now fortunately my wife is not a problem because I use my money
(sepperate accounts)and Ive's studied martial arts for the past 12
years so she see's it as part of that. However once or twice I had to leave my EDC in the car (concerts, certain buildings)so I carry a good steel cased writing pen also. But I think after I get my sebbie I'm only gonna check this forum once every couple of months cause I'm trying to save money right now, and this forum could have me spending all of my money LoL.

I thought it was Ishtar who corrupted Marduk! :p

I'm glad you like the information you've found here. Knife collecting can be an expensive hobby, of course. But unlike jewelry or antique cars, knives are useful in daily life.

Since you're thinking of getting a small Sebenza, I won't mention the Mnandi. Perhaps, since the CRK knives are so expensive, you might want to look at Benchmade as back-ups, for high-quality, more affordable replacements for the workplace. Spyderco could provide specialized on-the-job knives, as well. You really should look at CAmillus; their current CUDA offerings are spectacular. Then there are the Strider folders for heavy-duty assignments.

Look at it this way, it's only money, and might actually inspire you to work hard and succeed in life, so you can afford .. more .. knives! :D

Man höre und staune, ein Österreicher dem es auf BF gefällt! ;) (just a insider joke)

Well against better judgement, I'm gonna order a small sebbie with bloodwood inlay this week. I would like to get a damascus lefty semenza with thumbstuds on both sides and either bloodwood or cocobolo
inlay, but I don't feel like shelling out that many duckets, and I don't have the patience to wait for a custom job like that. Either way I'm sure i'll bee happy with the one I get. I'll keep all of you posted with my results.

You might as well face it.............you will also need a LARGE sebbie. I say a Classic with the wood inlays. I have one with bloodwood and it is an eye catcher.........'course the snakewood is even nicer!! :D :)

As someone new to this forum (though a regular on the firearms forums as 'sven') I feel this thread should be listed as "dangerous for newbies" - my credit card companies may thank you all if I don't stop surfing Google on all these names you are mentioning... my god some beautiful pieces!

This forum is a dangerous place, there should be some sort of law requiring mandatory health warnings plastered across the front of it. I was a normal person with a quiet but unresolved liking for knifelike objects until I came across this place.

I now have a nutrition problem because all I can afford to eat is beans.
I'm depressed because it's taking so long for my new Sebenza to arrive.
I have a hobby that causes my friends and relatives to think I'm seriously disturbed.

There must be somebody I can sue.

I'm honestly afraid to contemplate how much I've spent on knives in the last 5 years, directly and indirectly. Probably more than 20% of my total income in those years (seriously). But it's all been fun so no regrets (just no purchases for a while either). ;)

g'head and preach!

b4 i joined the site i owned a CRKT M16-03 (6A), a Camillus Cuda Jr (154CM), a Spyderco Cricket (ATS55), and a very small Peli-Knife (440A)... spent $110...

since i joined the Blade Forums, i've added a Spyderco Calypso Jr (VG10), a Benchmade Nimravus (154CM), Camillus Arclite (D2), and a Spyderco Dodo (S30V)... spent $180...

so not only have i bought more knives, i've bought higher quality, and got much much better deals...

but hey, i'm luving every second of it!

(plus collecting knives makes sense when you live in the middle of the woods in Maine)

Marduk, just in case you want anymore to add to your must have list..here's a few of my own recommendations!:
Spyderco Calypso-jr. Best cutting pocket knife I've ever used bar none.
Spyderco Mouse-if you can find one, get it. they kick a$$.
Spyderco Delica- A must-have Spydie
Spyderco Native-Comfy fat handled user knife
Benchmade Mini griptilian-easiest to use knife there is.
Benchmade 94x series-beautiful to look at and to use.

This place is definitely dangerous. Before I found bladeforums and knifeforums, I had knives carried them, but I hadn't actually bought any ('cept maybe my first one, but that was so long ago I can't remember who paid for that one). They were mostly knives that my father had lying around but they were never used, so I adopted them. When he realized I had a thing for knives, he started giving me whatever he got through his job. But it wasn't until I started reading the forums that I started plunking down my own $$ for the critters. Scary. :D

Marduk, it's corrupted a lot of us. Once you get the Sebenza, you'll probably start down that slippery slope into customs. Just set yourself a budget, and enjoy the hunt for the next one. Knife collecting is awesome, enjoy it while it is still legal. I'm sure it won't be long until it's made out to be evil like they've done with firearms. Headlines- "He had an arsenal of knives in his safe"

Photo of partial collection- Warning, contains graphic images of sharp objects. :)

Drool drool...

I'm like Roadrunner - I don't want to know how much money I have spent on knives since becoming a Bladeforums member. It is a lot of fun to collect knives, though. The problem is that there are just so many of them, and I can't afford one of every kind.

And yes, there are unfortunately a whole lot of people who think that anyone who collects any kind of weapon, whether it be guns, knives, bows, etc., is a nutcase ticking time bomb who will eventually go into a shopping mall, restuarant, or post office and try to kill everyone in sight.

Of course that is totally rediculous. I for one am a normal person who just wants to be prepared for when the space aliens come to eat us all !

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I MUST know.
what is that Reeve tanto folder, 3rd down on right?
Is it a prototype?
Please let me know, you're killing me.
